Classics ... Will they always be past tunes for everyone?

Feels like the past few years have had some great, some wicked tunes and songs .... but nothing is as good or has the same memories as say 3-5 years ago?

Is that the nature of things - or just me?

For me its tunes like above and beyond - no one on earth, electrovoya - whispers, armin - blue fear, darren tate vs blue amazon - no other love just seem to stick in my mind, and as much as so much good stuff comes on the scene ... it cant ever match.

So are classics in everyones mind, just something related to your early and most impressionable moments?

Either way, they still sound and feel amazing.

I haven't listened to trance for about 5/6 years, and haven't heard of any of the tunes you mentioned

You miserable fucker - they were all massive tunes about 2-3 years ago with the exception of blue fear which any true fan would know about :D

Of course there are some wicked tunes - but do they feel as good as the ones from back further ???

Having said that. that 'Dr Pressure' remix of drop the pressure will always make me smile since the time i heard it in Fabric - something that will probably never ever happen again and it has a special place in my mind ......... but i can only count that as a single tune in say 2 years since the last one that has had the same impact.

That's the point imo. Classics are different for everyone because they're defined by the specific memories or a period of time that were special to an individual.

Well bully for you ... it doesnt matter whether anyone knows any of the tunes people mention at all - its just whether or not 'classics' is always going to be something towards the beginning of your 'clubbing career', or can it extend beyond that.

Are you soooooo cooler than me since you dont know any of the tunes i mention - fuck, i had better go and study harder.

I didn't mean that at all, I just meant trance classics to me means tunes from 97-01 cos that's went I went to those kind of clubs and enjoyed that kind of music.

So bullshit aside - im wondering what people 'today' think are the classics ... since i cant appreciate them as much since i pretty much defined classics as something 2-3 years or more ago.

It would be interesting to know what people say 18-21 years old think are the tunes that define this experience for them

    I'm 26 so couldn't probably answer

Classic to me means a tune that I loved a few years ago but haven't heard since, regardless of genre.

nobody has been 'raving' since 1994 you plum.

I have a great time when im out you bell end, but as much as i enjoy the music just as much as i ever did - there arent any of those moments where i jump up and down like a loon anymore ......

If you cant appreciate the point im making, wouldnt you rather go and hassle jess on one of the more brain cellically challenged threads ... run along now.

I'm the same, and I think it's cos the novelty factor isn't there any more. I'm used to seeing djs, used to drugs, used to massive clubs, used to a good atmosphere, used to loving different tunes etc.

So i guess the 'classics' are defined from the novelty factor in parts then .... Which is probably why the tunes i mentioned i would probably not have so much time for today that i did back then.

Still .... in a day with so many samey sounding tunes in these days - i'd love to know the ones that people are growing up with these days.
