Edinburgh is great for pubs but not so great for clubs or at least not the ones I've been to. Its been probably a couple of years since I was there last but I did used to go up fairly regular before that.

Rose Street (I think?) is the place to go for pubs. Just a long stretch with pubs on either side.

The last time I went we ended up at some club called Massa which one of the other lads had suggested we go to. Think it was just behind the train station at Waverley. Think there was a house night on when we went and it was fairly decent so you could do worse than there.

If you're just wanting the regular run of the mill cheese, we used to tend to go to Revolution. I used to go up to see a mate who was at uni there and it seemed to be the place to go if you were a student or liked cheesy dance music. Thats on Lothian Road.

Theres a load more which I've been to which were ok but nothing of particular note, and not many which I can remember the names of

Yeah generally the pubs are better than the clubs plus some have quite strict dress codes no trainers in most places and if your remotely drunk before entering the club the won't let you in. Only been to clubs a few times, Why not and Stereo, both are fairly run of the mill cheese, though ive heard liquid rooms and cabaret voltaire are good for house music, and i know Steve Angello is playing summer on the 30th of September.

aye the honeycomb is usually good, as is the venue (Carlton road) and the liquid rooms(Victoria Street)

pop into the record shops on cockburn street (Just off the royal mile, leads down to/up from the train station) during the day to pick up flyers of whats on, watch out though cos loads of the flyers tend to be for nights in glasgow so read em carefully:wink:

Yeah, we found that if you wore trainers you were less likely to get in and that those who were even slightly drunk got turned away. We also found that the majority of places didn't particularly like large groups of lads going and were turned away from a few places. Its best to split off into smaller groups when queueing to get in anywhere.

A lot of the bouncers will actually talk to you before going in anywhere just to find out where you're from etc. and judge whether yer ganna kick reet off

IF YOU GOTO A PLACE CALLED OPIUM YOU WILL FIND A DANCE CLUB TO ITS LEFT. OPIUM ITSELF IS A ROCKERS CLUB/BAR AND TO THE RIGHT OF IT IS MORE ROCKERS BARS.

THE BEST THING ABOUT EDINBURGH IS THE FACT THAT YOU GOTTA GO OUTSIDE FOR A SMOKE, THATS WHERE ALL THE FUN HAPPENS!
