I fancy moving to the coast this summer, can anyone recommend one of the nicer areas with decent transport connections (as I dont drive).

    Local or national?

I'd recommend brighton - nice place, trendy shops, close to everything .... quick ferries over to france.... an hour into waterloo - what more could a young urbanite want?

Learn to drive then live where you want! There's some nice new houses on the old coal works shite in South Sheilds, but it's a canny hike to the metro, and unsure how often the bus is going to the station. Tynemouth is quite nice aswell, but gets v. busy on weekends, etc

If you need good transport connections you won't be able to find anywhere that isn't overrun with people in the summer. As i live there i'd have to say cullercoats, but to be honest i think you'd probably prefer Tynemouth.

Learn to drive, you'd hate the Metro system !!

The UNISON strike is on tuesday, so i don't think the metro will be running tomorrow. I've not heard about a partial service ????

creswell mate ! loveley little place just past ellington . busses run to town twice every hour and it would take you about an hour to get in there . Youve gopt alnwick and alnmouth on your doorstep . And plenty of local talent as well as a few tourists in the caravan site .

People have been mugged and stabbed at Tynemouth metro. It can be pretty rough place on a night time

lol my old home saltburn-by-the-sea has some great areas... might be a bit too far away though.

tynemouth is excellent, especially some of the sea front places, absolutely huge.
