i just find most coming soons never happen is all... coming soon to me translates as 'we're so excited we've had this idea and we're gonna rush in to it before we've thought it out completely.'

sorry for being a cynic though, but usually with websites, if its not completed or has the odd 'this section coming soon' page, i find it unprofessional and i dont usually go back to it.

im not having a go, but i can see im gonna get flamed for my thoughts.

i think its best to finish a website then hammer everyone about, then everyone gets the initial 'WOW' straight away, instead of having to keep going back every week to check the progress - once this happens, theres no initial 'WOW' factor

    Well said that man!!

A few people on here could learn that there's no point in plugging a web site with bugger all on it!!

    Well Jason/Paul

This site is designed to help people like YOU , if you dont feel you would benefit from the service then thats good and you must be happy with the progress you are making/have made.

    But why the negativity?

There is no negativity surrounding the idea mate! Just people in general plugging web sites with nothing on them! It's perfectly natural when doing something like this to get very excited and want to share that and create a bit of interest, but IMO (and as Jason mentioned) the impact would be far greater to wait until the site is ready, looking swish, and then market it. Not having a go personally it's just food for thought in general for those launching stuff like this!

P.S. I am not really a DJ so wouldn't benefit!

My main reason for early announcement was to try and gauge the interest. (which has been very very good so far)

My reason for gaugeing the interest is not to know if the idea is worthwhile , but to know what areas of music I will target. The idea of the site isnt just to help the djs who play the sortof stuff I like , its to help everyone who wants to try and get a foot in.

But thanks for the feedback and are you sure you're not a dj as I am sure you were?

Anyone with interest in the site could you please email admin@future-promote.co.uk as I am collating a database of email addresses :)

Nope, not negativity, advice if anything, from someone who has done this kind of thing before, to someone (only judging by the bad crop on the logo) that is relativley new to it.

With a website, its better to just finish it all, then give everyone the details about it. people are curious, once they get to a website they will want to click everything.

you will get a better buzz going around for it by finishing it, then spending the first couple of days hammering everyone about it and contacting webmasters to do link swaps - dont forget to fill out the meta tag data aswell, google picks up on this and will provide you with alot more hits, thus generating more interest

Actually the Meta keywords tag isn't used by any of the major search engines any more (with maybe one of two exceptions). I still put them on most of my sites just out of habit but the tag is pretty much redundant now. I think it's far more important to have a well constructed title and descrption personally, and build link popularity to improve your ranking with google.

Here is an interesting article on the subject: http://searchenginewatch.com/sereport/article.php/2165061

Of course, this should probably all be in the geeks forum and you'll probably want to actually build the site before worrying about any of this stuff! :p

Well, thanks for pointing that out mate! :D I remember very recently having a convo with Fizz about meta tags, and he said it was important to put it in - I was at the time confused as i never bother (and have had good success with site hits) I thought it was more the body text that the likes of google grabbed info from (and thats why a page built in an iframe wouldnt get that many hits). I mentioned it in relation to the conversation I had with Fizz, not due to something I have tried myself - we live and learn ;)
