    Crime News!

    Leeds United midfielder Jody Morris has been suspended by the premier league club while it carries out an internal investigation after he was questioned by police in connection with allegations of sexual assault.

    "Leeds United AFC has had a meeting with Jody Morris and his solicitor this morning. In accordance with the standard provisions of the player's contract of employment, he has been suspended for up to 14 days to enable the club to conduct an internal investigation," Leeds said in a brief statement on its website on Thursday.

    Morris and a second man were released on bail on Wednesday after both were questioned by police in connection with the allegations of a 20-year-old woman.

    Newspapers that today named the Leeds footballer arrested in connection with rape allegations but obscured pictures of his face did so amid fears he could be identified in a police line-up.

    Although the player is well known in football circles, the police warned identification was still an issue.
