Don't know how many of you peeps ever go see bands locally but the Cumberland has always been a good live music venue especially for local bands who have very few places to play in Newcastle.
Well now they are on about building 'family homes' nearby and the law as it now is, means that even though the pub was there first, a single complaint about the noise could get their music licence revoked.
The landlord is a canny bloke who has done a lot for the local music scene and it would be really sad to see the pub closed or turned into yet another shite clone pub with no music just because a load of NIMBY's move in.
You can e-mail a letter of support or just put your name on a petition by emailing The Cumberland Arms <joanne.hodson@virgin.net>

    Every little helps

i agree - it's a pity money talks - and it'd all about residents here in newcastle. they win everytime when it comes to this retarded union loving council....

they'll give lip service to wanting to promote music and culture - but it's all about getting investment and how places look - not the 'feel' or commuinity spirit
