always buy one but only ever a single for a quid and when ive been pulled by inspectors they say this is'nt the right ticket for your journey then i always reply it's better than no ticket at all and every one says ok but next time get the right one and its happened over 10 times:D

I have a monthly pass and only ever go without a ticket for genuine reasons, which have always proved acceptable to inspectors.. like the time my pass had expired the day before and none of the machines at Benton would accept my money for a ticket.:( Typically the inspectors were waiting in a big lynch mob at Haymarket...

In a paper I read the other week, they reckoned that 'serial fare dodgers' carry a £10 note around with them in case they get caught.. how sad is that?

Agreed!! I only really buy a ticket if i have to go through monument and haymarket. The amount of times u get away with it is definately worth a tenna now and then!

    .........(still never been caught tho):p

when i was caught once there was an ethnic lass sitting in the office who clearly didn't speak much english, crying her eyes out while the inspector seemed to be on some kind of power trip, telling her she was a liar etc etc. totally shocking. the inspectors are sometimes right knobs, like any other profession i suppose.

    :( nasty buggers.

the chances of getting caught are minimal, unless u get the metro into town for 9am on a weekday and get it home between 5 + 6! most return journeys are £2+ so if you get caught twice a month (and use it most days) you're still one up on them

You dont see inspectors that often anymore but if you do its usually about 15 of them on a platform and they invade your metro and drag off all the "losers"... not good if you are on your way to work and they make you late! It is true though the odd £10 fine every month is cheaper than a pass :D

Re: Do you buy a metro ticket?

dont agree with that. if i'm gettin off in city centre then i might buy one but only a "one stopper". most of the time i get off at monument then go to manors and walk over. never any at manors.

i've been caught once but the number of years i aint paid i could get caught 5 times this month and still be up in the long run.
