Easy-to-cook meals in less than 20mins

I'm sick of the old burgers and chips now so I need to make a mental list of all the nice things you can whip up fairly quickly with typical items of food.

I'm just about to make some pasta/pasta sauce/tuna/chilli and cheese on top.

Beans and toast is a good one. (;))

Taco's/fajita wraps are the best but you usually need to buy extras to what's normally inhabiting your food cupboards :(

And thats my knowledge of quick cooking

    Help!

Oh i nearly forgot.. toastie's! Whats a good mixture? I made bean toasties when i was totally out of food the other day but they're lacking that oomph suprisingly :dunce:

Cook pasta and remove from pan, drain and get rid of the water.

Add some oil to the same pan then fry up some garlic and (red) onions in the same pan

Put the heat on low and then whack the pasta back in the pan, add a good splodge of tomatoe puree, add a tablespoon of white wine (or balsamic) vinegar, chop up some sundried tomates and then add them + some of the oil from them too, add some chopped Chorizo sausage, add some fresh chopped coriander and mix it it all up. Add extra olive oil if needed.

Grate some parmesan over the top to finish it off. Under 20mins and absolutely delicious! Invented that last night and had a party in my mouth! :D :D

In my experience some things take less than 20 minutes to cook and some things take over 20 minutes to cook.

Also, sometimes you have to prepare your food first and sometimes you don't. The times are also completely variable.

the majority of things take more than 20 mins. A birdseye chicken dinner meal for the microwave takes 10mins  If you want something that's mainly meat and you're cooking from frozen it will almost definately take more than 20mins. If you're just thinking along the lines of pasta and toast then ye 20mins is enough :p

liver and onions is quick (if you like liver, which i do)

onion in the pan with a little oil first for 2 mins or so, then 2 mins ish per side for the liver (get lambs fry).

wack on some veg.....and you've got a cracking meal in about 10 minutes!

Steaks are also quick to cook.

Beans on toast is actually a super food!!!

What i've just had tonight, which took 10 minutes:

1 x (insert whatever type of steak you want) enough for 1 person, cooked in a George Foreman so little attention needed ;)

1 x tin of garden peas

1 x Packet of Uncle Bens rice (The microwave one)

1 x Packet of Schwartz Creamy Pepper sauce

Start the Steak on the George Foreman, then start the pepper sauce in the microwave at the same time...also be cooking the peas on the hob. Once everything is cooked as per the instructions (it should take about 8 mins) then mix the peas, rice & sauce in a bowl and serve with the Steak :cool2:

    Get in :king:

I'm not really a fan of rice though.. I'd be swapping it for the much healthier option of chips

I never have anything like steak in the house though cos my mam is a vegetarian
