    Ecstasy vs Alcohol

    I need some help,

can someone please help me formulate an argument, preferably backed up by official figures, as to which one is better (for lack of a better word)

I mean like addiction risk, effects, collateral damage, environmentally, all that jazz.

addiction risk --- alcohol addictive /ecstasy -------- not adictive

effects ---- alcohol aggression and violence / ecstasy------ hugs smiles and gurns

collateral damage--- alcohol brain damage liver damage heart damage circulation problems / ecstasy------ brain damage liver damage ear damage

environmentally ----- alcohol piss in doorways / ecstasy loud music characterised by repetetive rythms causes noise pollution

oh yes and one is illegal and one isn't

we've all seen this many times before but:

then after all that radge stuff you see the stats for alcohol related deaths in 2001 through 2003:

    http://www.statistics.gov.uk/statbase/ssdataset.asp?vlnk=8905&More=Y

and within that excel document its clearly says that 18, 583 people have died as a direct result of alcholism. comparing that with:

so in hindsight cowies dont seem that bad at the end of the day.

so why does frank tell us not to take pills but to drink "in moderation"

nope nowt to do with the number of people who take e / drink, those scores are agregate scores for how dangerous each drug is considered by a panel of experts IIRC.

basically alcohol is judged to be almost twice as dangerous as ecstasy on a range of factors.

A much greater percentage of drinkers will die from alcohol related illness than extacy users who'll die from ecstacy use.

worth bearing in mind too that most of the figures quoted for ecstacy deaths aren't actually for deaths caused by ecstacy, they're for deaths where ecstasy was found to be present, though it was often part of a cocktail of drink and drugs, so it's often not as clear cut as to say ecstacy was present therefore it was ecstacy that killed her / him... so someone who downs 2 bottles of vodka & half a pill will go down on the stats as an ecstacy related death, though it was the alcohol that really killed them.

not saying e's perfect and it will fry your brains a bit over a long period or if you cane it too heavily, but alcohol and tobaco are both way more likely to kill you.

your forgetting stuff like, alcohol may only give you a one night hangover, where as ecstacy can leave you feeling brittle and ill for a week.

Anything can be dangerous if you abuse it, ecstacy users can fuck their body up as well as alcoholics, but the way i see things personally is when i go clubbing it's one night out, if i get pissed i will have recovered by the some point the next day and can get on with my life as i'm not a heavy drinker, whereas if i'd got wrecked i'd probably sit curled up in a ball and dissapear from the world for 3/4 days, which is a waste over one night imo.

I know people who can't go to pubs without drinking so what does that prove?

is that whats known as tough love?

and if you are only to talk in subjective terms about this then you can only see as far as the end of your own nose

the point about alcohol though is the damage is cumulative and you may think you are recovered but you are a little bit worse every time you do it.
The damage from E is probably cumulative (although not proven) but the come downs are so bad and the effect gets less and less that you can't keep doing it for long before you have to slow down.
with alcohol you can keep caning it till your liver falls out.
