Class lineup but they have made a massive mistake putting it on the same weekend as Digital Society.

As much as i like that lineup and the Empire if the DS lineup is just as good i know where i'd rather be...

Hell of a line-up. No can do like as it's the day I come back from Ibiza. Miss the Empire, mind I wish they'd move the Dj booth back to the royal box position.

Weren't overjoyed with Cosmic Gate, Tyas, Askew, Duderstadt, Activa, Holland and Ben Gold?!!?!? You talking daft lad??

As Aaron's said it's a big risk taking on D.S. head on, they've already got quite a loyal following of northern trance fans who'll attend month in month out regardless of the line-up. Bit like Crasher of old, people go for the atmosphere and to meet up with mates etc.

Spot on. Not to mention the fact that the drinks offers they have on are class and despite being further away Leeds is easier to get too and DS is on until 7am so people can get the train straight home afterwards.

Hell i live in Teesside and it costs me less to get to Leeds and back on the train than it costs me to get a taxi home from the Empire.

The lineup is very very good, i just think they have missed a trick and could have picked any other weekend. Personally if i was putting it on. I'd have gone for the first Friday of the month when people have just been paid. Then you can grab people when they have some expenditure and maybe afford both nights.

I'd also try do something about transport from Newcastle as Boro is a ball ache to get too and only being open till 4 people will need to either get a hotel or drive/put a coach on but people don't want to put a coach on themselves because everyone's fickle and drops out.

To add on the back end of the DS comments theres also the birth of this Transition night to compete with now, who seem to be snapping away at DS's heels (in a good way). Leeds is a totally different clubbing culture to boot, no disrespect intended here (mainly toward Aaron) but Boro is a shit hole, I've never came across a rougher crowd in my life than there was at the Warehouse.

Brilliant line-up, but if I was honest 2 extra headliners on the bill at a new club now 3 times the size of where they originally struggled to fill has disaster written all over it.

    :lol::lol::lol:

No offence taken. Why do you think i spend most of my money on going to Newcastle and Leeds for my nights out?

I fucking hate Warehouse, I've stated that fact many a time. I love the Empire though, but i know from experience that Boro is a tough tough place to get a night going. The Empire never really got busy last year other than the PVD night when they had the likes of Tyas, Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, Marco V etc booked.

It's a brave step for Tez & Kirky and it would be nice if it did well and good luck to them, but i wouldn't be me if i didn't say what i think and i just think they have picked the wrong week of the month to try it and it could go to shit for them.

    Press Release /

Eliminate is taking a well deserved break over the summer months and coming back bigger, better and stronger than ever.
Eliminate has decided to move to Middlesbrough's finest venue,’ The Empire'.
The Empire will give Eliminate the chance to truly stretch its legs and show the unexpecting habitants of the north what it really is capable of.
The old music hall boasts three floors fully kitted out with the best equipment on offer and private V.I.P boxes available with the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong, Roger Sanchez, Erick Morillo, Tiesto, Paul van Dyke rocking it in recent years.

Head of the billing for this mammoth line-up is Belgium's own living Legend... M.I.K.E Push !
Over the years M.I.K.E. has produced timeless trance anthems such as 'Universal Nation', 'Strange World' and 'The Legacy' under his Push guise, while his Plastic Boy alter ego has spawned equally euphoric classics including 'Silver Bath' and 'Live Another Life'.
M.I.K.E. has won numerous awards such as 'Best Single' and 'Best Dance Producer', entering the UK National Top 40 on 6 occasions, and has remixed tracks for artists as diverse as Sinead O’Connor, Mauro Picotto and Moby plus remixes for some of the biggest names in dance music, including Armin van Buuren 'In And Out Of Love' and Ferry Corsten 'Made Of Love'.

Next up is with out doubt one of the hottest tech/trance producer/djs in the world... John Askew !
The Head honcho of Discover and Discover Dark is set to shake the very foundations of the unexpecting town of Middlesbrough. Haven given birth to some of the most exciting trance and techno records of the last 6 years – including John’s latest single “Chime” which Paul van Dyk played 5 weeks in a row on his legendary Soundgarden Radio show.
After the huge successes of his singles “Vellum”, “The Door” and “New Dimension” and “Fuck Private Ryan”, John has gone on to deliver release after release of consistently high quality club music.

Matt Hardwick is a name that always goes down well with the crowds in Middlesbrough. Matt lives and breathes electronic music. Since his inception into club culture Matt Hardwick has completely immersed himself in it. Playing out to fans week in week out.
He was the heartbeat of the lion that roared throughout the trance boom of the late 90's. His growing reputation really came to the fore in early 2002.
Matt is booked regularly to perform for the likes of Godskitchen, Minister of Sound, Slinky, Passion and The Gallery as well as other gigs & festivals world wide.

Irish Trance master Brian Kearney is set to blow the roof off the Empire equipped with the very best in upfront trance and techno with the emphasis always on energy and the unexpected.
He has become a firm favourite of Armin Van Buuren and Paul Van Dyk over past years. His remix's have earned him support from all the big names in the scene today. 2009 promises to be the year for him.

Finishing off the billing in the main room is a firm favourite with the Eliminate crowd, Chris Metcalfe.
Chris knows how to warm things up with his blend of progressive and uplifting trance. After playing at the last few events and creating a storm on the dance floor when supporting the likes of J.O.C, Preach, & O'Bir, he certainly warmed things up by whipping the crowd into a frenzy He’s back by popular demand!

Room 2 will play host to the best in up and coming talent the UK has to offer.

Room 3 is hosted by local house night m0de.

'Parts' being the key word, the whole of Boro City Centre is a hovel...

I've been clubbing in all the rough working class cities: Liverpool, Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin... it doesn't take away the fact that down there is the worst've i've ever experienced, I've played down there 4 times now & 4 times theres been some sort of trouble thats ruined the night.

May just be me & the comical dealings I've had down there in the past with that particular club, but it comes to something when the Doorstaff search you after having a piss, find nothing... yet still throw you out? (and I was even booked to play! ).

As for DS, im not sure what you've been used to in the past or what you expect from a Trance night but it's the best in the Country. The crowd/club/clientel/Line-up's/promotion - everything they have down there ticks all the right boxes.
You dont need to take it from me, all you have do do is look as far as Askew's blogs, Hardwicks Website, Downeys Myspace, Pattersons mail shots, O'Callaghans Newsletter to find that it's their most championed night they get to play at.

Yes granted that DS is on the same night and we all know how well they have been doing. The Warehouse had its limitations which is why we made the decision to make the move to the Empire. Eliminate @ The Empire will be a totally different & new experience that people will hopefully try out and show support for a local north east night. The response we have had since releasing the lineup last night has been fantastic.

    Cheers
    Kirky
