    EMP Attack.

Known about these for a while:

    EMP/ E-Bomb

having a daft converstation with me mate last night, and realised that even though newcastle is not on the highest alert for this kind of attack - if the nation was attacked with this kind of technology, how would we cope!?

communications would go from global to how loud you can shout, PC's and the internet would be null and void, streetlights, lights, microwaves, cookers, the sanitation system, cars wouldent work, TV, radio etc etc etc would all be gone, effectively moving us back in time to the 19th century.

get your tinfoil hats out, because if it did happen - anarchy would ensue.

I think the Yanks used this to knock out the whole Power Grid in Iraq when things first kicked off.

dont think fuses help mate, as the magnetics pulse through the air and effect the components on the circuit boards, they dont neccessarily have to travel through the wire i dont think. unless im completely wrong

I think the most effective way to produce a big enough EMP to cause alot of damage is with a nuclear explosion so you might aswell just use the nuclear explosion as a weapon

    correct

there's no other real way to deliver an EMP yet apart from nuking the place anyway.

Still, it sounds like the perfect answer to thornaby - cut off their internet and kill them all

i suppose so, but even then the whole outer heaven theory makes it scary. you can kill alot of people with a massive nuke directley at them or you can destroy and kill a whole society with 2 nukes detonated a mile above ground.

Regardless of whether I had the option to drive, there's no way I'd venture onto any roads when there's no traffic lights in operation + millions of charvs going mental in their Corsas. I'd stock up on food, gather candles and lighters and wait it out somewhere cosy :p

I think that's true.. at least in broken Arrow :p There'd still be a million charvers on the roads going scatty at the thought of being able to drive like a twat at 150mph without any kind of organised policing going on. Probably a good thing really cos if everyone else just stayed at home for a while our population would generally be a lot more polite within a couple of days :dunce:
