    probably.

Its a bit of a bad idea, cos the average joe on the street doesnt really know the whole situation surround the EU etc...so arent really in a position to make any decision.

the only reason i know a bit if due to living with people who know a great deal about it.

I'm sceptical but don't know the whole in's and out of the change. The pound has lost it's strength over the last few years, I've noticed that.

    Re: EU Referendum .

can someone please outline what will happen if the changes go ahead other than an ft EU president...

....this isnt a vote on 'do you want to be in europe?' its a vote for changes to the constitution, am i correct?

do the people who have already voted YES know why they have voted yes? or is it just a knee jerk 'anti europe' vote?

i dont really know what the changes will involve so i cant really vote :)

a weaker pound is better for UK exports... dunno about long term issues cause i'm not an economist... damn it - that job sounds fun.

Is'nt the EU constitution mainly just replacing loads of already agreed treaties?

isn't it all about germany, france and somewhere else having more power in desicion making than other countries - larger economies, population, etc so they should have more say - and now these other countries want to re-negotiate so its a more even spread... or something.

its obvious he was going to do it... its election time soon...

tories offering a refferendum on europe was a key point of their manifesto, now good old tonys changed his mind, that ones bit the dust....

it seems a bit desperate, we need someone whos gonna be in it for the long term and not the short and as labours history and current tactics suggest, it isn't them.. although i don't really see much better on offer...

*prepares to be ripped to shreds* ;)

Its all abour passing over some of our powers to Europe. Not sure exactly what powers but it could mean that the EU could set our interest rates, our laws etc etc. Essentially it means that the UK would have less powers to act in the best interests of the UK.

Your right in saying its election time soon & thats why he has done it. But I think he has done it because he wants the backing of the Murdoch newspaper & TV empire. So he has done this so they will back him. The Sun made people like Pike vote Tory in 80's & then New Labour in the late 90's:D

With our economy the way it is right now... i dont think we should be making any inroads into europe until we quell hyper inflation in the housing industry, massive consumer debt levels spiralling out of control,.... and the cost of lucozade at the corner shop this morning - 89p!!!!

I'd rather be a part of europe than playing the part of america's whipping boy - and in the grand scheme of things we have to start pushing towards europe and eventually learn to say "no" to america.

The bigger issue with this europe issue in the news right now is that barely anybody knows what this new vote is about... me included. I know theres some vote about europe, and its a european referendum.... but is it THE vote that the masses of britain have been waiting for? Who knows?

Since i lost all my tv channels apart from ITV due to a broken TV my grasp of current affairs has slipped a bit sorry :D

it's not THE big vote that everyone wants, which is 'do we join the Euro'... it's just another 'EU Referendum vote' so people think "fuck that - i don't wanna bepart of europe' when infact it's nowt to do with the euro. directly. anyways.
