    Foundation - The Venue

What does everyone on here think of Foundation as a venue?

Ive noticed in several posts ive read that people don think it is that good a place to have Promise or they have certain little criticisms. Personally i love it and think it is a blinding venue. I really like the layout of the club and think it is perfectly suited to Promise.

I love just for a couple of minutes late on just looking out over everyone from behind the dance floor and seeing beyond them all the logo in white light against the dark background.

Only thing i would change is to get a couple of drains in the floor of the toilets so that i dont have to get my ankles soaked as i wade through the 6 inch deep flood that develops evey week! :D

It’s ok but it doesn’t have any unique features to make it a great venue.
IMO the Republic has to be one of the best venues, I tend to find something new every time I go.
I think Code has to be one of the worst venues I’ve been to, its just to designed for me.

    What a GREAT fucking idea!!!!

I think the venue is nothing special BUT it suits promise, its not a venue like DNA, Code, Republic, Camden Palace that you walk into and go wow... its a dirty dark underground feel to it, it really suits promise - it doesn't feel like your walking into a multi million pound corporate commercial club... it feels like your walking into promise..

Since they've started experimenting with the lighting I think the venue is really good.

    Couldn't agree more!
Slightly disagree with Smart E though....I think the Foudation is a little too light and open for a dirty underground feeling....that was the old Riverside....the most underground you'll ever feel....and it looked like you'd spent the night underground when you got home!

    Reason's I luv the venue...
1/ looks like a battered ol' warehouse from outside...inside intimate & cosy
2/ I luv going on wanders & although tis fun to do this in more elaborate buildings, with my sense of direction I get lost...foundation feels frendlier as a building cos tis easy to find me folks!
3/ because of it's open design there's so many places to stand & just c everyone looking all exciteable :D
4/ there's lil nooks & crannys that u can go hide in
    5/ feels all open & airy...ahhh

I could go on but don't want to overdo it....I fink tis fair to say I lurve the venue cos it suits the night! :D :D :D

I agree. Alot of Dj's especially Picotto and Fontaine, prefer the underground feeling, sort of like low roof and strong sound system! I also think it works really well. Promise has this feeling that u aint just walking into any typical club, it has this feeling and sense of belonging which personally i dont get in other places, ITS OUR HOUSE!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! :p

i really think foundation suits promise too. I like it how the DJ is so close and they is a sort of underground feel.

The thing i would change though is the taps in the downstairs toliets, there are totally crap solid to fill your water up! And the floor gets soken other than that a really good venue.

I love Foundation, espescially the way it isn't so commercialised like Republic.

It's way out the city centre, in some random street, and looks like an underground sort of venue from the inside and outside, but not so underground it just looks like a scruffy south east london garage club full of rude boyz.

It's a welcome change, and gets a nice mixed crowd.

The one problem with Foundation though, is that it looks fairly big when it's packed out, but looks tiny when there're only a few people there. The difference is huge. If you go along on a weekday when it's not that full the place seems a lot smaller.

For me, i think foundation is the best underground club i hav seen. I love the fact that its a club that is truely underground, meaning that its out of the way, only true clubbers who love there kind of music attend and that its fairly small. I hate really big clubs that get too full and u cant move at all. Foundation is the club where it gets not too busy nor too quiet but when it is busy its good becos of the likes of brilliant dj's.

Like what lil fufu said, it looks nothing from outside but inside is really good, gives its great underground feel, and the fact that the atmosphere once in there is completely amazing, when every1 is havin a great time. The layout is superb, the dj's are great, the atmosphere is wkd and well, theres no more to say. I rest my case. :D

I really like foundation i tend to think of it as a home from home ha ha!! :p

Another thing peeps were saying a while ago is the lighting. I thought the lighting last night was spot on and it has been for the past month or two. :D

*pats lighting blokey on the back (and thanks him for saving my life the other week with the whole cable tie incident!)*

i used to hate foundation and thought promise could have a far better venue but recently ive started to like it....the square shape mite not be the most interestin in design but with the new lighting and the lazer it feels like a different club. and for some reason it does suit promise down to the ground:)
