Does anyone take the rivalry past football???

What i mean is.The football rivalry is fun but do people go as far as to say.I dont like that person cos theyre from sunderland/Newcastle

Not a football fan myself and i'm from sunderland and i have to say i dont know any nightspots in sunderland with an atmosphere as friendly as Foundation which is mainly geordies...But some people from sunderland seem to seriously think all geordies are wankers and vice versa

this is why i can hardly give two shits about football myself either.. if it was all about the game fair play i'd watch it more often but it disgusts me how much the players get paid and it's all too much bollocks if you ask me.

i couldn't give a shit about rivalrys, it was quite entertaining watching two 14yr old lads shouting mackem bastard at some bloke getting on my flight last week, he was acually getting quite annoyed too

I cant stand the mackem accent, and i'm not even a true geordie myself.

Dont hate sunderland supporters individually, as most of my mates are them (whereas im a toon fan) but collectively on matchdays they boil me piss with their wheez keeyz are theeyz voices.

Thats all.

i dont get the rivalry at all

if all the players for sunderland were actually from sunderland and the same for newcastle

then i could understand it

but i think theres only a handful of players that actually play for the team where they come from

i think it's very sad personally

i always see it as friendly banter. I wouldnt take it personally and usually everone has a laugh about the rivalry. Some pricks choose to take it further though and i dont see the point in it.
I would wind someone up for being a geordie but i actually really like newcastle and the geordie accent so it would just be in jest.
