    Global Warming !!

Just wondering peoples views on the state of the planets climate and whats going to happen in the future....

Personally i think we need to act and act now...should have acted years ago....it is nice having warm weather for a change though but as the saying goes...for every good there is a bad... :chill:

according to weather patterns dating back millions of years, this phase of global warming might be entirely natural.

If you consider that humans contribute only 1/4 of all greenhouse gases, this rise would have taken a lot longer to happen if it was all down to us.

the other 3/4 of greenhouse gases can be attriubuted to forests and other earthly emissions, such as volcanoes and animal life on land but mainly in the oceans.

whilst i might be saying the above, i agree that something must be done about emissions coming from america and third world countries.

 Forests act as carbon sinks, locking in carbon dioxide!

We do need to do something, and we need to do it now. It's all very well saying that global warming goes in cycles, which I don't think anyone is disputing, but the vast majority of people now don't dispute that we are causing the planet serious problems. However, how many of us actually do anything? Do you recycle stuff (no excuse not to do it now as the council collects it)? Do you try to minimise energy usage, car usage etc?

China and India I believe are going to be the biggest problem, what with their enormous populations and huge use of natural resources. Both of them are massively increasing their use of oil and other energies at the moment.

If this extra heat makes Tynemouth/Whitley Bay the nu-Ibiza, I say lets get them old fridges back.

But if it means I am going to run into swarms of flying ants everyday SOD THAT

i'm reading a book about this atm, some vegetation does contribute to global warming, i'll look it up and let ya's all know. Not that anyone cares

China is the biggest threat atm, they are burning more coal now than the whole of europe and north america did during the industrial revolution.
