    Glowsticks - The debate

    Whats everyone's opinion on them??

    1. An outdated, chessy accessory only relevant in the Hard House and Hardcore scenes...

    or

    2. A fun accessory that adds to the euphoria and energy of the night??

When I started clubbing (around 2001ish) they were reasonably widespread and I've 'used' them relatively regularly since. They're certainly rare now at most of the trance nights I go too.

Personally I'm a fan (should be noted NOW that glowsticks are as far as I go towards the cyber culture!). Having grown up in my clubbing life with them I'm embarressed to say I feel sort of naked dancing without them

Right, I've said it. Any other closet glowstick fans out there :D

Its all about personal taste and you will never have a solid outcome on the argument due to that.

Younger people tend to be the ones with glowsticks cause most will be off there bonnet and think they look cool, I know ive been there before. As people start to get older or go clubbing for longer there tastes change and most of the time glowsticks and cyber is grown out pretty quick.

Personally I dont like them anymore but I wouldnt say anyone who was using them looked like a tit, at the end of the day that person might think that maybe say my shoes made me look like a tit.....personal preference will always decide the outcome for the individual.

    explain how this works?

a luminous piece of plastic in your hand does not, in my opinion, give you energy

that is what speed is for

There's nowt wrong with them, in my opinion. Not sure why people have a go at cybers really- I'd rather see people who have made an effort with what they're wearing. It makes for a more interesting night than if everyone just wore boring old jeans and t shirts, I think anyway.

Fair points but personally I don't think anything is particularly 'cool' about trance and certainly not the dancing (some females excepted). Once you start worrying about whether you look cool you may aswell fuck off to your local funky house club and mince about with a cocktail.

Speed  speeds for loosers who cant afford chizzle

Anyway it does create energy remembering energy from enjoyment of music doesnt always have to be phyiscal it can also be mental.

he's good, he's trying to save money at the mo i believe. he came to detox, lost his phone and snogged some girl on the bus home. lots of fun.

anyway...back to glowsticks. They're just shit.... cyber used to be good (wearing patterned trousers and a stupid t-shirt does not = cyber though)

some people at sunnyd years ago who had them were good. charvs who wave them back and forth are not good.

    fact.

Thats just a shallow attitude though isnt it, if someone enjoys trance dancing with or without the use of glowsticks who are you to sterotype them as 'uncool'

But if your saying theres nothing cool about trance dancing are you not looking at yourself and knowing trance dancing isnt cool you dont do it?

Wouldnt that just be a contradiction on what you have just said, maybe a visit to the local funky house club is in order?
