From http://www.godskitchen.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=70251 Contrary to the article today in The Evening Mail Godskitchen the brand is alive and well as is the Birmingham based club Air. The article that appeared in The Birmingham Evening Mail was incorrect and inaccurate. The companies that went into receivership did not own the Godskitchen brand and had not been trading as Godskitchen for over a year. The club and Global Gathering – incidentally the most successful dance festival in history – were produced through another company. Statements made in the paper were incorrect and we will be talking to our solicitors about these inaccuracies. As the article states this all took place on August 5th and we are now nearly at the end of August and Godskitchen events have not been affected. This week Jeff Mills makes his debut at the club for an Atomic Jam party whilst Polysexual take over the club on Sunday for Mash-tonbury. Check out the listings section for full listings ...
damn i was getting excited there! Always good to see a bloated, over-monied clubbing empire go bust :chill:
I think the way they have changed is fucking class ! When we went to see Van Dyk they had him and O'Bir that night, the week before it was Armin for 7hrs and i think the week before that was Sasha ?!?! Some fucking months line ups there, fair enough two trance DJ's but they do widen there genre's a bit more in diff months !
dont be daft, you hoping all the big clubs close until the scenes small enough to fit into your pocket? without these big clubs the scene would die on its arse.
which scene? the clubbing scene? i doubt it. if anything, smaller clubs would do better... DJs would charge less.... maybe it wouldn't be a global as it is....
Im not TOTALLY against super clubs..... im just against hyper mega super dooper ultra clubs. Since the whole Ibiza thing snowballed and the festival thing took off - all its done is create a vacuum that ends up strangling other nights and clubs with changes in peoples expectations from clubs, and of course... people through the door. Places like Cream and Crasher built something great, then they try and take it to the next level and end up crashing down to earth and not doing anything any favours. Godskitchen sounds like a great club, but its just the whole internation and festival thing which im not a fan of. And when i say that im not ragging on anyone who had a great time or met friends or anything at these events or clubs at all - just a more observational look at industry. Then again what do i know, im just another part time clubber
i agree... as clubs/events try to out do each other, people expect more and more from their nights making harder for smaller promotions to compete. People in for the music will go to any size events but they are small minorities nowadays - the 'everyday' clubber seem to pack out the bigger events, festivals and arena gigs. as a result, it seems to be peoples own expectations that seem to be stiffling the scence. in my opinion
yeh but if big clubs closed, then smaller nights started doing better, the smaller nights would just become bigger bigger, moving into larger venues, so really all youde have is the same thing over again.
