Good wireless router My boss is after a new wireless router. It's a pretty big house, with pretty thick walls... any of you student bums use your computer on the top floor where the router is connected downstairs? Need a reliable one with good range. Not a Netgear, since they are dismal. Was thinking of the belkin Pre-N - anybody got any experience with this? Ta.
Re: Re: Good wireless router Thats the thing! The best experience i have with wireless routers are the ones provided by the ISP. Like the new BT gear for example, it just works... Do you still get good range from the Pre-N even with a G card? ManOf....dont get it?
my dads got a pretty decent one with good strong signal i cant remember who makes it but its a WR-54G and its white

Si : it's a linksys - i've always found them canny
weve got a Draytek Vigor 2800VG http://www.draytek.co.uk/products/vigor2800v.html cost around £150 and is spot on, we have 2 laptops and 2 computers (sometimes more) running through it with ease we had a linksys and it was useless
Re: Re: Re: Re: Good wireless router Granted, but its a forever changing market. What was great yesterday is wank today.
I use boxes from 2wire - awesome wireless coverage and u can ramp the signal strength up via the interface. i can get right out into the garden with mine and the box is upstairs in my room against a wall at the front of the house.
well the range on the belkin is superb but the usual problems with the encrpytion not working with yet another built in wireless card were there. Did not work with 64 or 128 bit wep, WPA or WPA2.... If you get the matching adapter however, apparently these issues are not a problem.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Good wireless router So how come you never know which one's good? You're a shit geek.
