had to post this.......the new technics cd deck

    New technnics cd player

New Techics CD Decks - Full specs and prices revealed
With the Technics DZ1200 CD Deck World Launch Party taking place on Saturday 14th February at Turnmills, we've finalls seen some details on the specification of Technics' first and much hyped digital turntable.
Supported out of the box will be the major formats CD-DA, AAC and MP3 along with the industry standard SD Memory card, like the earlier Pioneer models allowing digital storage of mix points, data transfers and portability of data between players.

Highlights of the new turntables features are:

Vibration resistance due to aluminum die cast upper cabinet with double spring insulator feet and a tough CD mechanism.
Seamless, instant cueing with four cue pads and memory for 10 cue points per an individual digital media such as a CD or SD Memory Card.
A traditional platter-edge strobe with a digital readout (BPM, play position, etc.), variable-range (+8 to +50) and a reset button, "Pitch Lock" (the ability to change the tempo without changing pitch), and "Reverse-Forward" mode.
The SL-DZ1200 turntable has a vinyl sound simulator, sample pads, dynamic effects, platter Free Wheel (a feature not available on jog-wheel type CD players), adjustable braking rate and a selectable display angle to permit use of the deck in upright hip-hop style. A Direct Drive motor system - offered first in the market by Technics to replace belt drive systems - has a quartz crystal control to provide accurate turntable speed.
The new digital turntable offers start-up speed options: a quick start-up time to full speed, making it possible to achieve extremely tight cueing, and a standard start-up characteristic of analog turntables. The unit also features a distinctive slip surface on the platter that allows for scratching.
The tentative release date for the USA region is April 2004 with an estimated RRP of USD $1,200.

1200 dollars at todays exchange rate is 685 quid. Not bad price

    I'm going to that :D

Price will be approximately £800 when released here.

You can already pre-order them from sapphires.

I dont think they will topple the pioneer throne.

Pioneer is already standard in pretty much all clubs, all dj's are familiar with it's layout and features, so I doubt every club is gonna rush out and buy a pair just because they are technics, after all cdj1000 mk2's pretty much do the same thing.

    Sapphires: http://www.decks.co.uk

And as for deep dish, yes it is, all nite in fact. 10-6 or something stupid. Entirely on the new techy decks, theres a few others playing in the anexo bit too. Quality :D

    Pioneer will probably remain standard.

the jog wheel is better than a moving platter....

Agreed, pitch bending is so much easier with a stationary platter. I cant really see why anyone would want a spinning platter.
