Mine healed in like 4 days.
And just ate and smoked as normal straight after I got it done.
Just used mouthwash after every tab or after food and loads of ice lollies!
Don't think that's the way you're supposed to do it, but had it 3 years and never been infected.

4 days you are lucky does it muck your speech up i.e will talking be difficult

Tongue heals fast as it is wet.
For me only the first day talked with a lisp.
Managed to talk to my dad the next day, without him noticing.
It did swell up over night but went down with ice.
It's really not that bad, the only strange thing was getting used to a bit of metal being in my mouth.
Was constantly aware of it being there the first few days.
