    Help: Sony PSP

Trying to get hold of a standalone Sony PSP for my brother for xmas, however, I can't find anywhere stocking it for around £179.99? which seems to be r.r.p.

All I can find is these gigapacks, which are bundled with a load of shit games, and are nearly a £100 dearer. Anyone out there have any suggestions where to look, either high street or online?

    thanks in advance.

My mate got a few on ebay at around the £180 mark (each) delivered yesterday if thats of any use.

These shops are using these packs as an excuse to make more money!!
bastard brought em straight round mine for bios flash

Cheers. Yeah the packs seem to start around £260ish and upto like £500+ total rip off as all the games look poor.

EBay is a last resort, cos it is flooded with imports I think? And I'm not entirely sure what the warranty situation is buying of ebay.

Im not sure about gta m8 but everyone i know thats got / getting one is either buying an import with 1.5 on or flashing it to 1.5 when they get them to play imports / home brew / copys etc !!!

yeah, the 1.5s on ebay are cheapish... AND play the homebrew stuff... makes much more sense....

    Just read this

"How to Keep v1.50 firmware while playing GTA LCS!

1.First download SXT Version Changer 2.02

2.Then install it on your PSP using the included readme.

3.Then open the program in your psp, and select the v2.1 firmware.

4.Follow what it says and then load your gta game or any other higher firmware requiring game, and itll work fine without asking for the firmware upagrade :) "

Only time i play games etc is in the house or at work.
Have a laptop and desktop for games movies and music at work.

If i want to watch a movie i'll watch it on a nice large screen, if i want to listen to music i'll use an mp3 player, if i want to play games i'll use a pc or games console.

The fact that a lot of games are over 1gb onto your memory card annoys me as well. Thats a few 2gb memory cards ur gonna need if your say going away and wont have access to usb ur games across when you want to chop and change.

    I'm just not a handheld fan :p

EDIT * Although I am enjoying playing about with homebrew stuff like emu's on em at the moment.

p.s. Yes Video Ipods are a waste of money. Users of them must be burnt alive.

Shame you weren't in our gaffe yesterday, we had three of them spare (but they've all sold). We're expecting another delivery in sometime next week (well here's hoping anyway).

The Gigapacks are being pushed by Sony at the moment, only problem is with those you're pushed into buying two games, and those are of Sony's choosing. It's a supplier agreement so we can't back out of it, everyone else has to do the same, although they do get a different set of games to sell with it. We've been encouraging everyone to complain to Sony customer services about it...

If you PM me with a name and phone number, I'll let you know if we get more "Value Packs" in and I'll reserve one for you.

If you can postpone Christmas for your brother, this may be of interest to you, it works out around the same price.

thank you for you kind offer mate but i've just managed to get a standalone gigapack from play.com for £205, which means i don't have to pay for the wanky games that get bundled.

on a slightly different note... has anyone had a load of bother getting the wifi / network acess on these to work, i can connect to my network (after disabling DHCP and having to assign static IP's for everything  ) but it claims that it has no internet connection. my mere prescence here, surely proves this to be inaccurate :p

    anyone?
