    Hi Fi Stages

Does anybody know which actual stages are being cancelled because the strongbow and radiosoul wax were the ones I wanted to go to the most? But I have a feeling it will be these ones :(

    Re: Hi Fi Stages

I don't think it'll be the Strongbow one. Think that's more like a large scale bar with space to dance and an open front with tables. Class atmosphere in them though 'cos it's small and intimate :king:

Theres been no announcements on the website and its only a rumour, so l'm starting to think its not true

Even if it is l cant see the Soulwax Arena being cancelled or they will move the artists elsewhere, and the strong bow arena is a festival staple (cant remember the last big festie l did part from glast that didnt have one!)

Keep yer fingers crossed and keep yer eyes on the website and l'm sure all will be cool

but maybe it would have made sense to play down any bad rumours? it all hurts trade - someone thinking of going might now just not bother

I'm gonna wait and see but theres no concrete news about this anywhere, Efestivals.com would have posted something if they had heard anything l would have thought

Xanders right about the lineup as well, not announcing the changes to lineup might consitute false advertsing (erm maybe l'm not too sure on that though)

    Message Board Rumours

From that map l can see nothing missing

they always cover them self by putting "subject to change" or some thing to that effect on the tickets. you never get your money back when the dj/artist you want to see isnt on

What and lose the chance of having more people there because the stage you really wanted to see isn't even going to be there?

yeah and having about 10,000 irate customers kicking off on the day cause all the people they wanted to see aren't there. Yeah i'm sure that would be a better option for them

Like Wot has said, subject to change means they can get away with it! Who you going to kick off at? The stewards, barmen? The people who make the decisions won't be there, they'll be sitting somewhere sniffing coke counting there millions. They don't give a fuck if your pissed off at your fav dj not playing!:dunce:

It might be bullshit, it might not, but it could easily happen. I remember when the arena was on, Armin headlining, when he was actually on tour in Auz! I know it's only one dj, but he was headlining, and loads of people would of only went for him. It does happen

i agree it does happen but this a hell of a lot of acts, if they do cancel two stages. Even if they cancel the ones i don't really wanna see anyway, i'm gonna kick off big time, start a festival revolt and shit, it'll be well funny.

10,000 irate customers at £50 a pop = £500,000 better option than if they announce it 3 weeks in advance... some promoters would consider that worth getting a bit of stick for, particularly if it's the difference between losing 500k and breaking even.

and I've not checked, but i bet it says all artists and line up details subject to change without notice (or words to that effect) on the tickets.

If they are dropping stages they'll probably be shuffling some of the artists onto other stages anyway as much as possible (shorter sets for everyone though).

I wouldn't have thought that godskitchen were that big a company that they could afford to simply swallow potential losses of several hundred thousand pounds if they've got their ticket sales forecast drastically wrong without at least taking some steps to reduce their losses. Don't forget they're running 2 festivals on the same weekend at either end of the country, they'll have had big legal bills for the lincence etc. and could well have massively overstretched themselves.

It wouldn't be the first time, and it won't be the last time that an event promoter massively overstretches themselves, and rather than going bankrupt (in which case the entire event would probably be cancelled with no possibility of ticket refunds) cuts stages, or artist line up to reduce their liability.

It may all be bullshit, and all stages and all artists originally listed end up playing, but the person who made the original claim has no axe to grind, no financial incentive from posting this up, and has a history of working in event management to back up his claim that he was meant to have been stage managing and had just been cancelled... so believe what you want to believe.

as Public Enemy said... don't believe the hype:wink:
