if it a fixed carpet I.E tiled carpet then you would claim of your buildings if its just normal I.E you can take it up and take it with you then you claim of your contents cover

Is there anyway you could replace it without claiming? Just your premiums will rocket

    Re: Re: Home insurance question

    Eh?

Do you actually work for them. Have you even been trained before?

Ianmc - If you've got Contents cover with accidental damage then you can claim. If you haven't - the insurance company will do everything possible not to pay you. I'd check your policy schedule (the document that outlines what you are covered for and how much you pay), it should tell you on there if you have contents cover and the additional benefits attached ;)

If you can claim, check what your excess is (normally £50-£60) and if you opted to pay a voluntary excess as well. They may have up-sold the policy to you with this, on the provision it brings your monthly premium down....

You couldn't possibly 'clean' bleach out. It's permanently altered the colour of the carpet.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Home insurance question

tbh chic if its the first claim in a while it wont effect it to much on home insurance it's only if you claim for a burgle or subsidence that effects your premium
