How have your musical tastes changed over last year?

Mine have changed loads, this time last year, I was a ragin "trance poof" (in the words of MC Vypa;)) but since then, I ve concentrated more on hard dance and hard house, but have also widened my taste for prog. Even got myself into breaks and techno, although I don’t claim to know much about it. DnB has always been one of my favs, and recently (over last few weeks) i ve got back into it loads (cant afford any new stuff though:()! Funky house and deep house etc. are still a bit of a mystery to me, but been enjoying the Soulwax stuff loads, and would like to get into it a bit more:) Apart from listening to downloaded sets, i dont really listen to trance or hard trance anymore (except PVD:king: ), simply cos it bores me...:D Hows your musical tastes varied over last year?

I don't think i have got into any more different genres of music this year, but last year i was only really listening to one genre for a few months then another as i got bored, now i listen to it all in a very vairied way.

    Tis more interesting that way.

Oh yeah i have made a very conciouse effort not to take going out and listeneing to music to seriously this year, has made a massive difference to me and my nights out. I don't grouse about things that piss me off any more. I just get on withit and concentrate on having a good time.

    :D BEST WAY!!!!!! :D

I think as with most my tase in music has gotten harder. I've gone from liking quite trancey techno (BXR stuff etc.) to propper techno. Also tech trance (Gielen style) has replaced trance for me, which is all starting to get a bit boring (sorry folks).

Got sick of the old trance scene with its permanent anthem bashing nature.... but prog was a bit too boring back then aswell...

Prog trance has become more popular with DJ's - which is perfect for me since it combines the best of the two genres - perfect :)

when i first started to dj a few years back i was well into HH, i thought it was good fun just jumping around and goin mad aswell as being very easy to mix!!!!, since then i relly started to go off it, it really started to annoy me, no breaks, no melody just....ban bang bang!!!!, i was givin a set by PVD and a few mixes by sasha, and they blew me away, so much so that i started to buy trance!!!!, good trance gives more than any other style of music around when its played properley, and thats what i love about it!!!, i still enjoy hard music, but im now starting to enjoy prog, and house aswell as bob marley, tracy chapman!!!!, variety is the key!!!! :D ;) :p

I've gone back to my pre-clubbing days...

started listening to hip hop and alternative stuff again.

still love dance music - but very tired of clubbing.

Only new thing I've aquired a taste for is electroclash.

I used to be trance and hard house fan mainly.

Now I've got too much trance and it's all starting to sound the same (although I still like it) and I'm getting more into techno. Hard house I hardly ever hear anymore at the minute, even though I was impressed with what I heard at Godskitchen.

It's a shame though, there's techno that I totally love which I can not find much of and the rest sounds pants - but at the same time what sounds pants on your computer can sound ace in a club (DJ Rush - Get on up (Chris Liebing mix) for example - I watched this get dropped on a video (Nature one 2002) and it looked/sounded mental when it went off but just listening to it on MP3 didn't have half the effect :)
