Is a total legend, for years animal rights activists and the Rspca have fought to try and get people to take notice of how chickens are treat, but no one would listen. Now every1 is talking about it.

If he can get just enough people to listen then he could change the way chicken are raised for good. which will also drive down the price of free range chickens as they wont be considered "special". Even if the price doesnt come down it's still worth every penny to buy free range or even organic as the quality of meat is amaizing.

I know i'm banging on about animals again, but so what i just care about what i eat!:D

i guessed u watched 'hugh's chicken run' this week too?

he made a good point, people have just got used to paying the lower prices for chicken but he was always going face problems from the big supermarkets - they bully councils for fucks sake into selling them land!!

still, it was a good program

He's timed the showing of the program brilliantly, MPs are due to debate a blanket ban on broiler houses.

I've watched every episode so far, great show

Quality program, he took a canny bit of stick from the people of Axminster like bet they all think hes a total knob. Only bit that let him down was when he kept preaching to the single mam when she couldnt really afford it. Made some really valid points and I bet it opened a few eyes.

at first, i couldn't argue with her - she had a point - yes, people on budgets can't afford to pay more - BUT it's only cause we've got USED to paying that little for them. she doesn't NEED to have it? it's like steak, i'm sure if it was equally cheap, she'd say that she could only afford the cheap steak but she doesn't NEED to, she has a choice.

I would advise you all to watch Kill it, Cook it, Eat it on BBC3 (its on tonight).

It is on pretty late, I would say dont try and eat anything whilst you are watching this show.

sainsbury's have always been dead good and are supportive of what hugh is trying to achieve, hence their appeal to "the people" about their own products and how they can be trusted, blar blar blar.

Hugh took it well, did you see his face when the biddies were saying they didnt want to know cos he sold £22 chickens in river cottage shop?

eh, who cares? they're only chickens. free range or not they'll end up next to a yorkshire pudding eventually, or if their lucky on a skewer in munchies.

and organic stuff costs more, why fuck up the food chain even more than we have when we've managed to find a way of producing such a nutriment filled foodsource for so cheap - and in mass.

a chicken wont say thanks for the help, mainly because it'll be cooked and your eating it.

you have to think about the poor, i bet they're well chuffed with smart-price torture chicken - mainly because it doesent really taste THAT much worse (if thats the right word). it depends how good you are at cooking the fucker anyway! and isnt it slightly pre-tentious by saying "yes it's more humain blah blah blah, and yet we'll still cut the fuckers head off and in the end it'll taste great!"

we'll be saving the tree's or something next, sheesh.

I bet the chickens are really having a superb time, surrounded by loads of their feathered friends, eating all the time, always being nice and snug until they meet the giant egg in the sky.

Heck, if we didnt eat the bastards, foxes would get them and their would be more of them rummaging through bins etc

If their were more foxes, you would want them hunted and all of a sudden the ban would be reversed and there will be a massive outcry again from long haired scruffy tree hugging hippys off their tits on the latest range of fucking incense sticks with the insane perception that their opinions are right and by leading them will lead us all into their blurred vision of utopia.

Basically, what I am saying is nobody will ever agree on subjects like this. You winge when you see poor old Mr. Cluckster getting plucked after a stay in a battery but at the same time, I bet people would moan further if they had to spend even more money on organic ones. Mass production lowers prices which increases demands and there are always going to be winners and losers with this but I would also say, these chickens are bred to be like this, they dont know any different so how can it be cruel?

After typing all of this, i have just come to the conclusion i dont really care how the chicken gets to kfc, just cook it and let me have my zinger tower meal in peace and for fuck sake, no mayo!

That Moretan Bay Bug (poor mans lobster) I picked from the fish tank the other night to be cooked alive had a horrible ending. Was a tasty fucker though. Bomb me PETA-philes.

maybe it's time, being the dominent species, to take some responsibility for our actions eh? we have choice with our actions, they don't

and the arguement for 'poor people' is so flawed- get a grip.
