    I choons

anyway I can change it to 'drag and drop' mode rather than using I tunes?

and if not, is there any way to stop I tunes making a duplicate of the file on my hard disk? all I want to do is copy from A to B ...without C

is there an alternative to I tunes?

Uncheck the bit in the options where it says "let itunes manage my music for me" - that way it just points its library where your files are, instead of making a copy for its library.
