    Ikon Lastnight

Lastnight we were booked by some corporate entertainment company to play a few records @ Ikon for their staff Xmas bash.

We turned up on time and armed to the back teeth with every Xmas anthem under the sun ;)

Sound guy called us UNPROFESSIONAL  as we never brought our own needles and slipmats  JP blew his lid as the bloke went on to say "what do you know about DJ's"

After a brief run down to the effect of " I was the GU production manager for six years " the bloke pissed off and came back with some poor needles and raggy slipmats.

We kicked off with some James Brown and some nice motown numbers got the zimmer frame crew on the floor

The live PA called Zoe couldn't go on due to kit issues so we ended up playing the first 2.5 hours. She eventually went on as we played her backing track cos her kit wasn't really on par to say the least. She sang a few numbers we went back on and the expected happened " have you got United Nations ? " says fat bird in ill fitting boob tube

We played about another 40 minutes of house, typical classics before the Commitments came on. The drummer was the real guy from the film and they were really good :)

We were then left to our own devices for the last hour with intention of emptying the place as quick as possible

Result.......we cleared the dancefloor in about four records, needless to say the Orange massive ain't acid house fans

We ended up with a large quantity of Virgin megastore vouchers (thanks Orange) and a record box full of free beer and a doggy bag full of food from the rather swanky buffet + a selection box.

They forgot the bowl full of green M&M's we asked for

The reserve DJ bored us all night with him telling us about ten times " I'm the resident from Liquid in Sunderland " " my condolences " was our reply.

Ikon is a shit hole, still smells of sweat and vomit and the same old lady works in the cloakroom that used to when I was 17

Was a laugh but my trainers are still stuck to the floor
