    Insurance quotes and your job

Why is it different price levels for different jobs? Bit stupid really. It's cheaper for me to get my lass on my insurance as a second driver too.

Better job - usually better credit rating - people with better credit rating have fewer accidents.

The first link mightn\'t be true though, just a thought

Re: Insurance quotes and your job

well if your job is a doorman there is more chance of your car being torched

if your job is within the motor trade there's more chance of you driving other peoples cars without having proper cover

if you work in a flower shop your more likely to crash at a roundabout due top having limp wrists
    need i go on.........

What if you work in a shop?

If you work at M&S you're likely to have a comfortable, safe drive home in your 100% cotton jumper and underwear, whereas if you work at Ann Summers you'll could be knocking one off at the wheel!

Two completely different outcomes - 1 job!

It depends on the hours you work, how stressful your profession is considered, the money you earn, etc.

For example, car insurance as a Medic costs a fortune due to long hours and constant fatigue (less alert, more prone to accidents, etc.).

Insurance companies gives discounts to certain occupations.

It depends on their target markets.

Some companies load manual workers, door staff etc, while others looking to get those kind of people would give a discount.

Generally professions such as local government, medical, law tend to get discounts with most companies :D

Is there anything stopping you from lying about it? As if you've had an accident I can't imagine they check your profession.

Insurance companies check your details if you have a claim. If you lie about your details to get a cheaper quote and then have a claim and they find out they'll probably void your insurance. They class it as fraud :D

probably a better example would be your more likely to drink drive if you a chef on licenced premises........

if your an accountant, your safe as houses!

Same as if your retired the price of your insurance goes up cos you'll be using you car more during the day, and your getting on a bit!

If your unemployed some insurance companies wont even cover you your such a bad driver!

If your an actor they wont cover you either, because your more impotant than normal folk it costs more to pay out for you if you die!

I'll be an accountant soon, but can't imagine why I'd be safer than anyone else. If anything, I'll be trading in my safe 1.2litre punto for some 2litre job, meaning I'll drive faster and more reckless.

    1. Insurance companies don't look down their noses at people and make judgements on who they think are most likely to drink drive dependant on factors such as occupations, that's the biggest crock of shit I've ever heard. Most inusrance companies would void a policy if the car or driver legally shouldnt have been on the road in the first place.

    2. Retired people tend to get cheaper insurance due to the fact that they're older and have more driving experince. You don't get charged a premium depending on what time of day you're most likely to drive.

    3. Celebrities tend to have to use specialist insurance companies due to them being at high rick of anything happening their car

It makes me laugh to think of how little people know about something that's such a part of every day life

I work in insurance as i think you do too....and some of our ins co.s do increase the premium if your retired due to using the car more...and same with any occupation that surrounds working in licenced premises...

it makes perfect sense to me anyway, how many chefs do you know dont get slaughtered during work and drive home...cos i know loads!
