Is there a doctor in the house?

ok this is a really really long shot but i need to know if hypercalcaemia caused by excessive vitamin D intake is reversible? and the severity of the condition that can be caused by excess vit d?

    Doctor Hew? Doctor Mick? ANYONE??

ps i'm not being lazy i've looked on google etc but can't find anything that has this info... :(

Severe elevations in calcium levels may cause coma.

i know this! but there's loads of contidions that can cause it i just need to know if excess vit D causes only mild hypercalcaemia or if it can cause more severe forms of it?

and if this can be reversed but reducing the amount of vit D in the diet?

    :)

depends on the duration of vitamin d dose.
body would easily deal with an acute increase in vit d intake, but if chronic increase vit d intake then that mightnt be ideal
just stop taking the shit, you dont need it anyway, unless you never go out in the sun

Sun exposure is unlikely to result in vitamin D toxicity [60]. Diet is also unlikely to cause vitamin D toxicity, unless large amounts of cod liver oil are consumed. Vitamin D toxicity is much more likely to occur from high intakes of vitamin D in supplements. The Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine has set the tolerable upper intake level (UL) for vitamin D at 25 ìg (1,000 IU) for infants up to 12 months of age and 50 ìg (2,000 IU) for children, adults, pregnant, and lactating women [4]. Long term intakes above the UL increase the risk of adverse health effects. Upper intake levels for vitamin D are listed in micrograms and International Units for infants, children, and adults in Table 3 [4].

yet again, yes i know all this an you're not really answering my question! :p

but i suppose if you've never heard of it caused by vit d then it'll only be of a mild severity... ? :spangled:

and i wanted to know if the symptoms/effects were reversable once vit d intake was reduced?

and have you studied this or just looked at google/wiki? :)

In my experience, tutors are generally useless cunts.

I got more help for my dissertation by looking up professors who'd written similar articles on the net, and emailing them with questions
