To be beaten by a team who will finish in the top 2 and reach the latter stages of the champions league?

Hardly like Shearers magic is it, 1 win in 8 and relegation......

fair play to sunderland, they were awesome in the first half.

Kinda let it down in the second though ;)

Chelsea were unbelieveable last night, especially in the second half - probably the best i have seen them play when they have played at the SOL. Passing and movement was world class, its probably a bit flattering on us to say we couldnt get the ball from them, as in truth we rarely got within 10 yards of it.

Probably not helped by us tiring a bit after a massive first half effort, and being most of our teams 3rd game in a week counting internationals.

Anything from the game would have been a bonus, though in games against the big 4/5 all you can hope for is giving a good account of yourselves which we definitely did for about 40/50 mins...

Chelsea looked awesome in the highlights on Sky like, think Sunderland defended well to keep it at 3. Sunderland have a decent team building up as well, Bruce will be canny for you's. Mid-table this season, build from there I reckon

Saying all that, piss poor attendance mind. Not even 42,000?

It's looking good for Sunderland like. I reckon a top half finish may be on the cards...

Not really - on par with Liverpool's average, more than Tottenham, Villa, Everton etc's average gates and comfortably in the top 5/6 in the Prem. This on the back of taking 5,700 fans to Bolton at the weekend. Hardly what i would call piss poor?

He did actually. We should of been beat by alot more the way they played the 2nd half. 3-1 by Chelsea on top form isnt too bad, we played well for 30-40 mins, bent is looking like a goal machine and our defence is getting better.

    Good luck at Sheffield.

First home game of the season? Against a team playing to win the title?

I would say knocking on sell out would be a decent turn out. I never said anything about away fans, but on the back of a very good win against Bolton aswell?

I stand by the fact I would have expected more fans there

Chelsea only half filled there seats so knock a couple of thousand off for that

We were really good for the first half an hour but you could tell before they went in at half time we were going to get beat, I'm not going to worry to much about losing to Chelsea to be fair, if we dont beat blackburn then I'll start worrying

If Newcastle sorted the mess of pay on the gate turnstiles I think there would be a few more there, I waited well over 30 minutes to get in because my turnstile is a bastard pay one aswell now

Cracking turnout seen as most people are on holiday or skint ;)
