Man convicted of raping a 12 week old baby

A 40-year old man who raped a 12-week-old baby with the help of his girlfriend, who was babysitting for the little girl, was jailed for life on Tuesday, police said.

Alan Webster pleaded guilty to four charges of rape and five of indecent assault against the baby and of possession of child abuse images, Hertfordshire Police said.

Webster's 19-year-old girlfriend, Tanya French, was jailed for five years with an extended licence period of five years.

"These offences were committed against the most vulnerable victim it is possible to imagine -- a little baby," a police statement quoted Judge Findlay Baker as telling Webster at St Albans Crown Court, north of London.

"Much of what you did was photographed so you had a record of yourself living out your depraved fantasies."

The offences occurred in early 2004 when the baby's mother, who was single, needed child care because she was decorating a new home.

In sentencing French, the judge said her offences had been aggravated by the breach of trust placed in her by the baby's mother.

"However, I do accept you are to some extent a victim yourself. Having come under his malign influence you were to some extent corrupted by him and shut your eyes to the fact that what you were doing was evil."

The crimes were discovered after police acted on intelligence that Webster had been downloading indecent images from the Internet.

When officers raided Webster's house in Hatfield, 20 miles (32 km) north of London, they found a photograph album containing images showing Webster and French committing acts of abuse on the baby.

Webster also admitted indecently assaulting a 14-year old girl, who had been a friend of French.

Following the sentencing, Detective Inspector Keith Tilley said the case had been one of the worst he had ever had to work on.

"The mother of the victim in this case had acted with all the best interests in finding a babysitter to care for her child but this set off a horrific and tragic chain of events," he added.

OMG that makes fucking depressing reading. Its common in Africa. Many blacks beleive that having sex with a virgin is a cure for HIV/AIDS, so they will rape babies, often cutting them first with a broken bottle or similar. Makes you sick to the stomach
