    Memorable Dates..

that people say you will always remember where you were when it happened.

My top 4 in no particular order

    1)9/11
At work, got a phone call from home to say a bomb had went off in New York, I went on CNN.com & was just shocked at the scene's

    2)Princess Di death
In a taxi in the west end going home when there was a news flash on the radio, got home & sat up all night watching events unravel & later that day the Liverpool V Newcastle game was called off due to her death

3)Andy Cole sold to Man Utd
At work in Durham when the radio announced he was sold to Man U, many phone calls were made about why & who Newcastle would sign to replace him. The Geordie nation went to bed shocked that night.

    4)Shearer comes home
In Ibiza @ some 18-30 gig when one of the reps announces the signing for a world record fee of 15mill. At the time Foster was upside down in a Velcro suit stuck to a wall.

Di's death - in the back of a taxi trying to "drap the mit" on a check out girl from tesco, fellow employee at the time.
I got dropped at home (alone) and watched it on SKY.

Her deaths 1st anniversary - in London and I remember being at the shrine type memorial thing at Harrods with a mate kidding on to be totally distraught and getting comforted by strangers

911 - At work, watched it in the boardroom.

The Gulf war kicking off - in bed only to get woken by my big bro telling me to come and watch a bit of history .

MacAvennie hitting a double at Hampden against Dundee United (88) - In the Celtic end at Hampden with my old boy going radio fucking rental. :D

Mo Johnston doing the biggest U turn in football history and signing for th HUNS (89 ) - I was only a lad but remember it clearly as both sets of fans were totally outraged by his decision.

FRANCE 98 - 3 weeks in France drinking wine like it flowed like water. Never forget that equaliser in the Brazil game.

Inside Out 98 - Talking to my missus for the first time whilst waiting for the bus to pick us up :spangled:

1.) england going out of italia 90, gazza crying, sat upstairs in my old house with my dad. it is the first football match i can remember watching!

2.) 1997/1998 coca-cola cup final, heskey getting an equaliser for leicester when we were minutes away from winning our first major honours. sat on the halfway line in the olympic gallery, cried all the way home. :(
nb: this counts as a memorable date for any boro supporter! :p

3.) 9/11 i had been to millenium nightclub at teesside park the night before and was lying in bed with a new acquaitance the next morning, when one of her mates rang to tell her what had happened, we then spent the rest of the day watching events unfold and the 2nd tower collapse live on tv.

EDIT: thought you were talking about 96 :dunce:

    EURO 96: England V Scotland

The game you beat us in was a great day.

I remember it so clearly, although I had been drinking in the golf club bar from 11am to get a front seat. It ended up in a water fight, an appearance in front of the commitee and a 4 week suspension from the club for my behaviour

    Pricess Di -

Went down to Republic at 5am to catch the last hour of Gatecrasher and to borrow a mixer for sunday best (night Mark used to run in Sheffield).

I told the doormen and staff but everybody thought I was winding them up.

    :(

it is all the 3 and 4 litre engined cars the school run mothers use to make 3 mile journeys in. i despise these women, i managed to walk to and from school for the enitre of my life, now every kid gets dropped of at the gates and picked up again.

it is only more dangerous letting your kids walk to school as there are loads of crazed women driving around at breakneck speeds in 4x4's... fucking self fullfing prohpecy innit  :(

The Yarm protesters want parts of the High St to be only for pedestrian's & a ban cars on other parts it.
