    Mitsubishi FTO's

does anyone on here own, or have owned, an FTO?

i need to find out about servicing/maintenance etc. to give me a rough idea of how much it will cost to run per year.

always wanted one and they're not that expensive really, just a bit concerned they'll be a bitch to maintain!!

duno like, you can't get many newish (3-4yr old) cars as quick as them for under 6k.

i paid 7k for mine last september (from a vauxhall dealer like so i got robbed a wee bit)

i think i'm right in saying all the 95/96 FTO's are imports, but i've read one or two sites which say it isn't too bad to source parts, it's just a little bit more expensive than your average car

Hi Jobbi, thanx for the pm.

Mitsubishi FTOs are a funny one. Sometimes they can be so cheap to maintain, last year I spent about £300 (new sunroof and new designer mirrors off ebay, also got a fancy foot mat bundled in).

They can also be so expensive. The year before it was very expensive, I went in to get a stereo fitted and it turned out he had to replace an expensive ore ring and according to the mechanic, the special bolts that had to be imported from japan set me back a good £200 of the £400 I spent on that part of the job alone. Plus he reckons that I needed a new limited edition tyre which came from korea, that set me back £375 and apparently my engine was on the brink of total failure which he thankfully fixed for £600 cash in hand, which luckily for me he managed to eventually get the rare piston rod from a shop he found in the USA

I'd say £50/week on petrol sounds about right depedning on where you're driving to.

Do you know if it's fitted with the EU style gaskets by the way?

i haven't found a specific one yet, there's a couple i've seen advertised that i'm going to go and have a look at. i'll ask the question, any other key things i need to know that i should ask?

Ask him what the bolt standard is, if there's any limited edition M6 bolts fitted to the engine stear well clear, you only want the M11's.

    good stuff mate

as for the fuel you mentioned before, i've read i should expect about 20-25mpg, obviously depending how you drive, i already pay £200 a month for petrol and that's at 30mpg lol
