    does anyone know the number that you ring and hold it up when a tune is on and it messages you telling yuou what it is?

    just tried it there to Lanicor by Umek, to my complete and utter surprise it worked!

    eh?! really though how does that work?!

    but apparently..... Back in 2001 the Chief Scientific Officer, Avery Wang, created an algorithm which is capable of recognising patterns in music that are unique to every song. So, when you call Shazam, they map the 20-second clip that you play to your phone to over 3.5 million songs in there database to find an exact match using the algorithm.
