New dual deck Whats everyones views on this? a turntable that plays both vinyl and cd's check it out here: http://www.htfr.com/more-info/?catno=MR149391
is it just me or is it slightly odd that gemini are the first company to create a hybrid turntable ahead of the big players...
trust htfr to jump the gun by months and try to sell something using a mock-up image of a product. it will probably look different to that when its released. plasa is on the 11th of september this year, its gonna have its official launch then apparently. official launch doesnt always mean its ready for the public either. the technics dz1200 had its official launch at plasa 2003 and wasnt ready for sale until summer 2004 and as for the player, the turntablists of the world already have a bad opinion of it as to turn it sideways (battle style - to get the tone arm out the way) would mean the cd slot would be facing the mixer, so you couldnt use it for beat juggling/scratching
i wouldnt know like, they had the mock up of that new Numark mp3 player thingy on there last year n it looks exactly the same in the flesh, but imagine the price of this nu dual deck man! gonna be at least £700 think ill pass like
at the end of the day its still got a gemini badge on it so it will be for the budget end of the market - i dont think it will be any where near 700 quid, and if it is, who in their right mind is going to pay that much cash for a product from that company not that im slaggin gemini off or anything, they used to be a great mixer company alot of years ago, but when the budget scene came about for newbie djs, they jumped on the band wagon and got tarred with a very dirty brush. numark and stanton are slowly getting rid of the budget gear name, but now the scene has taken a downhill venture, it doesnt look like they'll be remembered for anything special. gemini just recently scrapped its managment team and decided to go for a new approach to things, but its a long road ahead to get any respect in the manafacturers stakes. they also decided that they would use the old 'UMX' name to put out professional gear after the success of the UMX mixer they had out. they actually found out it did better than they thought, and it wasnt until they scrapped it that they realised it had done any good. so far nothing new has come out of the UMX stable, except rumours of them re-producing the old 3 channel UMX mixer.
