    why watch out sky? all the good channels are sky channels.

    But then again with branson involved they will probably have the market sew up in a few years

    mainly because with all th other empires hes got, there loads of competition, but with this there isn't any.

    well maybe a little competition with sky, but they don't offer all this in one package.

    I'd hardly call sky "little competition", they've wiped the floor with virtually everyone who's tried to compete with them.

    NTL are the first, but I doubt they'll be the last.

    Every time someone's tried to face sky down on equal terms it's always gone tits up (on:digital, BSB are the two best examples)

    I've yet to see any figures that show that telewest are winning the HD battle... besides it's early days yet, outside of the uber geeks not many people have bothered rushing out to upgrade to HD ;) One the joe and jane publics start buying HD hardware in droves I'd imagine sky would change it's approach and you'd see the balance change fairly quickly.

    i reckon your right, when sky get rid of the cost of the hd box, i think more people will go for them instead.

    this type of promotion is often seen as the SIMPLEST and BEST way to get these 'offers' but in actual fact they're not always the CHEAPEST way of doing it. it's the same with dual fuel for example - yeah, maybe all the same supplier but not the best price - just seems the easiest as it's with 1 company, less hassle for you - which is how marketing works these days - offer the customer an easy, simple on the surface answer to get them hooked, i.e. 3 months free, knowing fine well customers 'cant be arsed' to change back
