Its not that its overly cheesy, but if this is the best trance producers can come up with, then the genre cant have much more life left in it.

its not the best trance around by far. its about 5 months old now anyway. Check out stuff by Markus schulz, Leama and Moor, Probspot, Perry O'Neil if u want some quality trance.
As with any genre, there is some shit, and some good stuff.

They are all quality, well produced trance. No Massive obvoius riffs or boring trance by numbers structures (beats - small break - Beats - Big Break - Beats - Small Break - Beats - End). They are slow, so i could see how you might label them proggy. Prog DJs such as Dave Seaman, Nick Warren, Anton Fielding wouldnt play them though. They are what i consider to be the best trance around at the moment. Although there are some more upbeat tunes which are good too. Whispers, and smith and pledger - forever being two good 'uns..!

Im getting a bit bored of most big synth trance at the moment, so thats probably why im leaning towards these producers....

I can't believe how boring some of the trance that's out at the mo sounds

The only decent stuff is that which you've said and another - Halifax - Reveal your innocence.

On the more proggy side I like stuff that Luke Chable produces like DJ Yoshi - Dreamer (Luke Chable mix)

I can understand about current trance sounding a bit boring....

thats strange because not long ago all the diehard 'puwwa trance heads' on here where worshipping it like it was the best thing ever to happen to trance

its cheesy, gash trance althought then again, most trance seems to have been cheesy and gash in the last year or so :)

    and i love(d) trance :)
