i know that's pretty much the relegation stamp before the season's actually started. Tekfish has probably already had this paged to him, and is currently still partying.

There were comments made in about March that Ashley had paid £20 million to stop Newcastle going in to administration at xmas so if that was true there was never going to be money.... Next year they should be planning just to stay up and go from there.
He's going to look like an absolute retard if he spends nothing and they go straight back down... ... Whilst breaking even and running the club responsibly from a financial point of view is a must, he's still going about it the wrong way.
There will still be new players. I can't be arsed to explain the capital outlay bit cos I've just woke up, but there will be. Having read the statement a few times now, it doesn't really tell me anything new, granted there's confusion over the capital outlay bit but the rest kind of goes without saying. "the team that won the championship will form the BASIS of the new squad". Aye, obviously. There isn't going to be a brand new full squad coming in is there? It's just a very badly worded statement that didn't really need to be released.
Still think we will stay up next season- we're miles better than either of the teams who will come up with us which means we'll theoretically just need to finish above both of them plus one other- look at the league this year- plenty of clubs sweating on their future into the last five games. We have a much better team than the one that got relegated as well despite the players who left- No deadwood, and people like colocini and enrique are actually up to speed with the english game now, last year they were just thrown in at the deep end
in real terms next season there should only be 2 relegation places left up for grabs. im a blackpool fan and if we win next saturday i have no doubt we'll be straight back down but it will be a magical season whatever happens.
Totally agree with all of this. There never was going to be millions to throw at luxury players & nor is this statement a surprise. We wont go straight back down next season as we have enough quality in the squad to see us through for at least a season (future seasons are obviously a concern tho). We’ve had a full season of stability & good management, something which we’ve never had in years. We look to be sticking with Hughten again next season which also spells good news, although he may not be the best tactician in the world he at least seems to have the respect of all the players & knows how to get them working, again a culture we haven’t had at the Club for years. We’ve only ever been a lower/mid-table performing Club even when we had all the ‘superstars’ so my expectations are not anything beyond what we’ve been like for the past 10 years at least. However if there’s any plus point pull from that waffle released then it’s the financial vision the Club has & where it wants us to be in the next 4 years or so, I daresay if we could stay up a few seasons after next & run the Club on a ‘break even’ basis, we’d probably be the most financially stable Club in the Premiership. On the other hand we could always throw £140m at players over the next 3 years in hope for a 10th place finish…
From the horses mouth... Bruce said: “We have been working a long time on Riveros. I tried to sign him two years ago – I was quoted £12m and couldn’t afford him." Dont let the facts spoil the Sunderland rinsing though......
Not sure where your figures are from mate, our last 3 years spending comes to £79.8m... On the other hand, you could always spend £147m over 10 years and just be coming back into the top flight aiming to cling onto premiership survival next year? (our 10 year spending comes to £7m less than yours btw... that 10th place goal isnt looking too bad in comparison...) Source for figures - www.soccerbase.com
winning a financial argument between Sunerland and Newcastle is like being the best dancer in the amputee word.
It'll be a totally different though, will we be able to pick up points, and have the confidence if we're getting stuff by bigger teams week in week out? I doubt it. The heads will drop and we'll struggle.
