PC - Again.... Right... On friday my PC was disconnected from the Internet off out ISP (Telewest) due to there being some sort of virus that was emailing itself everywhere. Today it has been re-connected and i have re-installed AVG onto the PC and its instantly found : 6 x Trojan Horse Back Door.Agent.9.AD 1 X Worm/VB.6.E When i have looked up the worm its an email worm which basically must just send itself out. Does anyone think this is why i have had probs with me PC being slow / disconnecting and the likes ?? I also apologise to anyone who i have sent this too cos its been outa my control - AVG is now running 24/7 and the PC's turned off at night along with the modem !! I just hope the little bastard is safe in the vault....
I have no idea what causes your pc to be slow. My internet wont let me see certain sites such as www.macromedia.com and certain download links wont work including lots from the music section of this board. I'm going for a format and reinstall of winxp to sort it out as when i updated windows from the website my pc kept restarting halfway through booting itself. Aren't pc's shit!
Re: PC - Again.... That would be why it was slow. Trojan Horse Back Door.Agent.9.AD is either gay porn or it's spyware. Worm/VB.6.E is one of a family of nasty worms that spreads mainly via e-mail, so guessing you probably got it through that. John, delete them permanently from the virus vault, install avast!, scan with that, just basically go thru everything in the sticky, do stuff in safe mode if you have to.
I am gonna wait till you sort the PC out before i install avast cos when i did last time it was too much hassle and kept saying stuff ?!?! Marc > I only use soulseek and have Sygate and now AVG running 24/7 - Soulseek was what i said that id only ever install on this PC and it is and i use Firefox Fuck knows why/where all this has come from cos with it being shared in the house i dont look at franky vaughan or owt like that
How can i sort this then ?? Not email till it is as well as just deleting all the things found ?!?! If it carries on then i will get dis-connected from the net permananently off Telewest
Possibly Outlook Express may not be patched up to date, or you could have opened a malicious e-mail, dunno... avast has got a pretty good e-mail scanner. When I come round I'll get everything up to date, should be no bother then.
