    Posh Food

Our MD is taking us to Hardwick Hall on Friday for some food but I am the fussiest eater ever. I totally hate stuff with sauces etc on. I've had a look at the menu and I don't have a clue what things are eg what is chicken consomme? cider jus? At places like these is it OK to ask for things without sauces on or do they think you're daft?!

its usually just normal food but in a smaller portion with fancy decoration and an even fancier name.

    Re: Posh Food

    consomme is soup

    jus is a thin sauce

i think i would think someone was daft if they asked for food without the sauce in a decent restaurant, as every part of the dish is made to compliment the other

The 2 things I am looking at that I could possible contemplate are:

Poached Chicken Breast, Duck Livers, Chicken Consomme, Spring Greens

    OR

Loin of Pork, Cabbage Parcels, Parma Ham, Cider Jus

But I really can't stand any kind of sauces or anything slimy? Will the duck livers be slimy?! My usual meals involve any kind of meat and chips but I always ask for no sauces, and I know I won't be able to eat it if it comes with any on :(

If consomme is soup, will that mean that it is poured over the chicken? They should just tell you plain and simple what it is :p

So what if it's a posh restaurant ... if you don't like sauce, ask for it without ... i'm sure you won't be the first .... just say it's down to a food intolerance or something. Better to enjoy it the way you like it !!!!

Is it the wee Italian across from the Statiion?

I have been known to moon walk by there on a Friday night to the amusement of some of your regulars.
