    Projectors

I'm fancying getting one of these for my bedroom to watch films and play 2 player PS2 with. Has anyone got one? I see them for as little as £300 on ebay.. what difference would i notice with one that costs £350, and one that's £700 with a screen projected over a distance of 8 feet?

    You're having a laugh aren't you? $3,199!!

Lol. How much did u pay?

Will a lower resolution cause pixelation? I'm not looking for anything special.. no HDTV, just something i can use to watch movies like I do on my shitty old tv along with PS2 games. So something that'll give me the same quality but 3 times the size would put a smile on my face

    I paid about £1000

As I said just work out which features matter more to you and then you should be able to find a suitable projector.

I'm not sure how i'd find out tbh. Like I said, an all round balance that will give me a watchable picture at 8ft that isn't going to make me cringe with lack of colour or pixelation. I think I'll drop into one of the tv places in the metrocentre and see what they think.

    I'd not waste your time.

Google it, there are loads of sites with reviews and user comments.

    http://www.avforums.com/ is useful.

I need to see an example of quality between expensive and cheaper tbh though because atm I'm not sure what to expect. I suppose they'll probably only have the top of the range ones on display in the metrocentre.

Like I said it's not all about 'quality'. Noise was a big factor for me as I got mine for watching films. I really didn't want a proj with a really loud fan.

Also consider if you want to be able to use it in the daytime? If not you can go for a lower brightness and contrast ratio which will save you cash.

    I want this one

I'd settle for one a tenth of the price though

And that's not likely for a long while either :(

Bit pricey for a 720p projector!

I think I'll get a 1080p one later this year when the prices have come down a bit.

    Toys.

Do you think DLP or LCD is better for home cinema use out of interest?

And what will I get for £350? would it be ok for an 8ft distance wall-to-wall for watching video and playing ps2? In a dark room, on a projector screen.
