    Promise-BackroomSessions

If upstairs @ Foundation was available on a Friday & had 1 Promise resident DJ playing alongside local young DJs like: Revel, BigDave, lee,Che, The Twisted logic lads, TechnoOrgasm boys & some of the South shields DJs(Jay,51,Neil Buckley,Marley etc..) & MANY MORE OTHERS!!

    Would you go?

I would want to go there, regardless of whether I'm djing or not.

it would be good to let the local names have a crack at it and see what they can do :D

Costs would be low, it would also be a place where Promise infomation can be given to none board members

Ok mate. Judging by the amount of people who have said that they are staying in because there is no Promise tonight and next week, I think it would work now.
If the people from the message board who are playing or want to play were will to give a hand with things like advertising it would make it more cost-effective.
It would also help Vuzz out because I can't see them being as busy when Promise aint on.
All of the other small nights(Twisted Logic, Unshakeable etc) would benefit as its good advertising for them too.
I think it is a good idea, I said that the last time you brought this up a few months back.:)

That was to have a trance room with local DJs @ Promise hard, I love the funky stuff but @ Quality upstairs was very flat. Friday nights @ Foundation have mainley always been about trance & having a funky room may work for Sundiss & Goodgreef but it didnt @ the last Quality, maybe a trance room playing prog & floaty trance would do better @ Quality???

I would go but I don't know how many other people would. Fair enough people from the board would go but....how many people would go each week and what is the capacity of the upstairs room? The costs would be low but on the other hand, people wouldn't pay that much to get in IMO, you couldn't charge the same amount as Promise does.

I'm not trying to put a downer on the whole thing, I really like the idea, but I'm trying to look at the down side as well. There is obviously a reason Promise went monthly, it wasn't filling the club, I know the upstairs room is smaller but message board people only wouldn't get anywhere near filling it, you would have to get more people and they might be hard to attract.

It is definately worth a go tho, I reckon it could be made to work.

Nope I'd go for a handful of them...

Promise/Quality should book quality dj's regardless of location/status... It shouldn't be used as a starting block for local dj's - fuck em :D

If they're good enough to play the backroom it shouldn't matter whether they are bedroom or not.

Spence - Do you mean if there was nothing else on a friday I know that Traveller and Turbulence are on some weeks, or do you mean if they were on and we just used the upstairs room they might be already using it? Or if not you could have two door queues and just have too separate nights and say no-one would be allowed to change between upstairs/downstairs as probably the door prices would be different presumably?

agreed, the up and coming need a chance to have a go. as opposed to the same old tired faces spinning the same old tunes
