Reawakening an old debate... Read this thread on the HomeOfMusic forums... considering i messed around with this long before it became as popular as it is now, it'll be nice to get some of the views around here. http://www.homeofchat.com/vB/showthread.php?t=34394
very interesting analogy and somepeople may agree with me i dont though, although i think times are changing and djs using various different bits of equipment is enevitable i think beatmatchnig should always done by ear when i go out to listen to a dj, i go to listen & watch the dj play a set this includes watchnig the dj himself (so any prescence he has behind the decks etc) listening to the tunes he plays, listening to his mixing, listening to how he plays the set, so simply just being in the club and hearing the tunes isnt really enough for me to be honest, when im watching i always want to be able to see him or her. so although some people say "it doesnt matter how the tunes re mixed etc etc or where the sound comes from" well actually it does because i go out to partly listen to djs mixing, not a computer
I had a bit play around with Traktor a while ago and thought it was pretty rubbish to be honest. Thought it did what is was supposed to do, badly. Couldn't see the point in it. Surely your own personal technique in the way that you mix is one of the main things that makes you a good or bad DJ?
