i jus have a lead that has rca (red/white phono) connections on one end an a 3.5mm jack on the other...

jus plug that into the back of the mixer and the mic input on my laptop then record it using soundforge or cool edit or something like that

If you have nero Wav editor , all you do is lead from the 'rec' port on your dex and record that way but be careful it doesn't record distorted, apre-amp is ueseful...

    Wav...

Why compress the file to MP3 if you are putting it onto CD-r? Are you short of blank CR-r's?

Leave it as a .wav file, allowing you to enjoy the full frequency ranges and harmonic sidebands, which would otherwise be removed by MP3 compression.

    Re: Re: Wav...

use a different program, save it as Windows PCM (.wav), so its just raw sound data. ont use a lossy format if your gonna stick it on CD.....

    Re: Re: Re: Wav...

OK I am tryin out all these tips but it still won't even record without being horribly loud and distorted.... it only works when i turn the channel volumes on my mixer down really low...then i can't hear what I'm doing:(

It's really annoying... it does this on every program i try to record with....

The thing is as well.... A few months ago it was recording ok...maybe my mixer has decided it hates me!:(

if youve got a DJM then u might need to set the screw thing at the back, which controls the master output. (dont know its realy name cos i havent got a DJM). Open your windows sound properties (from the task bar or control panel), and open the recording section. Select which input you are using to record. Then Open your application that u plan to use to record (cool edit, soundforge etc), and monitor the record level. Stick a record on, then look at the levels in your application. Using both your windows and mixer master level, set the level so it isnt clipping (below 0db), and they arent in the red.

Then u should be set to go, and it wont sound distorted (unless you are wacking up the EQs during your transitions, or throughout the mix....so dont....:))

    hope this helps...

If it doesn,t go to the techie forum, and search for recording, there loads of info...
