Seaman, Pappa and Lange @ Turnmills last night Incredible night! Orbit came down last night to go to the Gallery last night... We booked our tickets on ticketweb last week and arrived in the queue at about midnight last night. After 10 minutes, the bouncer walked up to us and asked to see the tickets we had out... after looking at them for about 10 seconds he declared they were probably fakes and we werent getting in with them!..... He looked as though he was wanting to keep the tickets (very suspiciously) so i explained we had come 300 miles to see this and if it was a case of not getting in or not, then we would pay and send our tickets back. The bouncer then let us through, looking rather fucked off - and as we went into the club told the security to "fucking search them well" .. We then were subjected to the most insane search you could ever imagine - I had my camera taken off me (not allowed them in the club) and given a voucher to get it back - then handed over 15 quid to get in..... interesting start eh All was redeemed by the time we actually walked downstairs into the club - from the word go the place was throbbing,... very dark, moody....... and full of australians! Antony Pappa - 11-1.30 Played an incredible warm up to seaman - Started off with really evil and pacey prog house, which was blended perfectly into prog trance and never once felt boring .... his mixing was tighter than a nuns crotch, and the club was buzzing by the time GOD arrived.... Dave Seaman - 1.30-3.30 Oh my god..... first time ive ever seen this guy, Orbit had been banging on about him for a while now and my expectations were high. He played a stunning driving prog trance set,... reminded me of John 00 Flemings style of music... Played some utterly stunning tracks including a mint remix of born slippy which had the club going wild.... his 2 hours on the decks seemed to fly past - totally amazing stuff and im a true fan now! Lange - 3.30-6.00 OH MY GOD! I had honestly expected to hear lange play a boring trance set full of his own remixes from 1999 from when he was a big thing in the UK - HOW WRONG WAS I!!!! His style is just like Matt Hardwick, who we know is a big thing at promise - driving uplifting trance without a hint of cheese - I was watching him on the podium (which is attached to the DJ box so you can stand about 2 meters away from the DJ's) and he was a demon on the decks - totally blew me away.... If you like Hardwick - you'll fucking love Lange - the man was amazing. We eventually stumbled out into the london streets about 6.30... knackered but it was a totally mint night and i would LOVE to see these guys play at promise - totally and utterly amazing!
Amazing night! Seaman confirmed yet again that he is the world's no.1 dj. Certainly, if there is a better dj out there, id love to hear him. Unfortunately it doesnt look like we'll see Pappa or Seaman at Promise ever again. Im also assuming the Scott and Mark consider them too trancey to ever book them for Shindig. However i reckon Lange is one that should deffo be booked for Promise. Im sure he would go down very well indeed!
glad ya had a goodun!! dave was booked for last years birthday then dissapeared off the listing so who knows.... "ave it!"
Seaman is top notch but likes his cheese at times ( Oasis remixes etc...) - Pappa and Warren are the Daddies of that style of prog. Sounds like a beast of a night though.
hehe - yeah i guess seaman likes to drop the odd bit of fromage in the old "mainstream remix" department.. he played Ian Brown - Fear, and Coldplay - God put a smile upon my face (sp?).... at the time though they felt "right" though Warren and Zabiela are playing soon at turnmills aswell .... although i think i need a good month and a half off, talk about blue mondays
F r i d a y >>> 27th F e b r u a r y Nick Warren, James Zabiela, Montana, John Askew, Jan Carbon. Cracking line up eh
Superb. I'm in London For Valentines Les Miserables then Lee Burridge and Craig Richards at Fabric so far. Anything else worth checking. You been to 'the end' brid?
Hmm.. only place ive really been to is turnmills so far - only friends i have here are stoners, or cheese club dwellers... none of them into my "scene"... I do fancy the end though... Mr C's club innit? As far as other clubs are concerned, i do quite fancy the cross - seems quite cool and has some great line ups.
heard a rumour bedrock is gonna be back in london @ heaven around valentines day, no confirmation on lineup or date at the minute though.
heard rumours of warren coming to sugarshack in may :spangled: far and away the finest prog dj in the country... imo...
