No & I also think Liverpool fans would be better off today (AND SOME MORE) enjoying this win rather than thinking about next year.

Yes i think liverpool should defend the cup as they are the holders but really only one club (per leauge) should enter the competition and thats chelsea after all it is called the champions league.
Only the champions should play in the champions league except one condition if the holders fail to win there league the next year they should have right to defend it.

True. David Moyes did remarkably well to get them to fourth though. It'd be a shame if they weren't rewarded with what they deserve.

    Interesting...

Liverpool's bid to gain entry to the Champions League took a bizarre twist on Thursday.

Mike Harris, owner of Welsh Premier League champions TNS, has offered to face the new holders.

He is a proposing a one-leg tie, possibly at the Millennium Stadium, with the winner going on to the first qualifying round place which is his club's by right.

"We would be supportive of this idea if it could be achieved with the approval of UEFA, the English FA and the FA of Wales, without in any way devaluing our league's future place in Europe," Harris told TNS website, saints-alive.com.

"It would help to raise the profile of the Welsh domestic league and have the additional benefit of offering Liverpool a way of defending the title."

Whether they're rules or not the holders should deffo get a chance to defend their title!

Even though the same happens in the world cup and european championships.

    how did they ruin it??

jus coz they owned europe,,it then puts it to the competition to raise theyre standards an improves the whole game in general

whats the point in havin a cup if the defending champions arent even in the draw!
