I've been meaning to start a thread like this... moving to a new place in a couple of weeks and can't get cable so was wondering what the best deals on getting Sky in are at the minute.

just go to sky.com and check on there. the offers are always changing like so i cant say which ones would be best.

Sky have halved the speed of my internet connection since I got sky HD, whats the crack there zegermans?will they sort it out if I have a whinge or fob me off?

how do you have everything plugged into the phone line? for some reason the tv engineers always get it wrong when they connect the box up.

so usually they have the cable from the tv plugged directly into the phone point then the microfilters then everything coming out of that.
You need to have the microfilter connected to the phone point then the tv plugged into the phone side of the filter.
Obviously the telephone then gets plugged into the tv cable if that makes sense?

If all of this is correct then id try swapping the microfilters and make sure every phone point in the house that is being used is filtered, Also is there any noise on the telephone line? like any static?
If this still makes no difference then your line would have been capped or if your connected into a extension socket then it could be a problem with that.

Oh and to get the best speed it should always be in the master phone point/test socket

i got a great sky hd deal not long ago, i got free box, install with 1 pack and HD pack for £9 a month for one year. it was sup to be for sky empolyees but i blagged it

Ring them up, say your mate got the 'half price HD for a year' trick , say you want the same. When they say no that offer is off say ok, forget it you'll look into other options and ring off.
