    Sleep paralysis

    Does anybody ever experience this?

I seem to have it a lot lately, just as I'm falling asleep or when I just wake up.
It get trouble breathing and am physically unable to move or shout for help, but I know I am awake.
It's a bit scary sometimes, does anybody know how this is caused?

theres a theory that the chemicals your body send to your muscles which stops you moving in your sleep are still in your system when you wake

just a theory, which im sure was turned down

it is caused by disrupted sleep paterns, thats if you are not getting enough sleep, or going to bed really late and waking up early.

its all about your body clock, mine got ruined when i was in ibiza this year, and when i came back it took me a good 2 weeks to get back to my usual sleeping peterns.

you probably arnt getting enough sleep, or you may be under alot of stress at the moment?

my ex girlfriend used to get this and used to swear her bedroom was haunted. she used to be like "did you not feel it lastnight, u know something pulling you into the bed" i obviously said no but she used to worry me at times :( i never knew there was a condition, i just thought she was going crazy :(

    Cheers. :)
Must be to do with my fucked up sleeping pattern.
As I work til 3.30 in the morning and often go partying afterwards, I skip many nights sleep and then get it when catching up on sleep.
I was scared it was caused by taking too much drugs.

That's not crazy at all. :)
Before I knew that sleep paralysis existed I used to think there was a presence in my room, because it felt like being pressed down on the bed and choked.
Sometimes my ex boyfriend was in the bed next to me, but I couldn't reach out to him or call out to him to help me.

I get this quite regularly - mostly when i'm really tired or have missed a nights sleep.

It's basically when your brain wakes up but your body stays in its sleep state.

i used to just smile and nod sort of thing, i loved her so i didnt exactly want to slap her and tell her to get a grip but i didnt know it was an actual condition. you know if i was in bed next to you, i wouldnt let a ghost touch you

I used to get this quite often about 1- 2 years ago when I was out nearly every weekend and caining pills and ket. It's really freaky- I used to feel as though I was being chased in a dream, only I couldnt move my body to run away from whoever was chasing me... but at the same time I knew that I was dreaming and that I needed to wake myself up. It was like being awake and asleep at the same time. My heart used to be pounding when I finally woke myself up!

It used to happen to me quite a bit and some of my friends have experienced the same thing. Although we used to cain it a lot when they were a regular occurrences so, if you like a good session, that may play a small part.

It happened about a month ago for me and I still try to call out or shake my partner to wake her for help but nothing works - I can't move or make a sound. My guess is I am more than likely asleep when this is happening, therefore it is a dream and I am not actually moving or trying to shout. Hence why my attempts to wake her have never worked (she is also a light sleeper).

See I seem to get it more when taking pills and ket, so I thought that might of had something to do with it.
And you're telling yourself to snap out of it but you just can't!

It used to be a small bright light for me, about head hight (if I were standing) above the bed. This is why I thought my house was haunted for a bit. They're not as regular now and, tbf, it never really bothered me anyway.

To be honest they'd probably fuck you up so much you'd only do them once. It'd be like something out of Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas.
