Just get some Xanax/valium or another benzo off the internet. Loads of uses but pretty addictive mind. Always knock me out after a session and are genius hangover/comedown cures.

Light occasional use should give very little problems but mixing them after an intake of stimulants isn't a good idea.

    What were they?

I used to take Zopiclone when I was going through a bad patch before, they were quiet effective but only really a last resort for me now. I had a bit of an incident after taking one and waking up to find a litre of yoghurt in the fish tank which I have no recollection of doing but it was definately me

Prescription ones are far more effective and less of an issue the next day, the half life of Valium is upwards of twenty hours

    Valium is a Prescription drug.

You'd be hard pushed finding better drugs than benzos for stimulant comedowns, minimum side effects, effective for all sorts of reasons and they are pretty much the standard in hospital admissions.

Don't see why the amount of time it takes to leave your body should be much of an issue, it's effects still only last a certain amount of time (certainly well below 20 hours!)

Benzos are generally fine after stimulants, better to reduce your body to normality, get some sleep, reduce any anxiety and be able to eat again than stay up for the rest of the day eating nothing because you've done loads of speed or something. Just don't go nailing loads at the same time.

Cyclopyrrolone derivative are more effective, and with less side effects.

Half life is important as the effects do continue, albeit to a lesser extent, such as the sedative effect the next morning, having the drug in your bloodstream for an extended amount of amount of time can't be of any benefit. either.

Cyclopyrrolone derivatives (Zopiclone) are passed through the body much quicker, allowing a deep sleep with very little sleepiness the next day

i remember trying to use these before my finals and nearly missing an exam because of them. potent stuff - in the end i find just doing some exercise in the day is enough to help me sleep very easily at night, no matter how pre-occupied i am with other stuff.

Brain activity can cease long before half a substance leaves your body, it wouldn't neccesarily be any hindrance still being there doing nothing either.

Which is better is subjective really, I know someone that had some and said it left a metallic taste in his mouth for the rest of the day, using valium as a sleeping aid has no side effects in my experience, infact it practically eliminates all side effects of taking drugs for me. It makes me feel normal again.

Obviously I am reffering to use after stimulants etc though, I wouldn't reccomend benzos as a general sleeping aid due to their addiction potential. Infact I wouldn't reccomend anything, but I usually don't have any trouble sleeping.
