Snorting Went on a HIV and AIDS awareness course on Monday. There has been documented cases of Hepatitis B being spread through sharing notes in the North East (according to the woman charge of the GUM clinic in Newcastle), and there's a theoretical risk of HIV being transmitted through blood on notes. Won't be sharing notes now, especially with randoms!
Is this not common knowledge? Did you know that you also shouldn't brush your teeth before giving oral sex? Or share toothbrushes or razors?
Yes, I know of the risk the two pose, bleeding gums. But I wonder how many people who share notes (inclujding a fair few people who use this board) think twice about what they could pick up? The risks of sharing needles are well known and documented thanks to the media. However, I 've never seen a campaign or any literature about note sharing, and considering todays common drug user is not the dirty smackhead we saw ten years ago in Trainspotting, I think the emphasis should change. Note exchanges?
The brushing teeth thing? Both as far as I know. It's in case your gums bleed when you brush them, so leaving an open wound, which you don't really want to get any fluids in.
It is less likely to catch HIV by sharing notes than by sharing needles, as both parties would have to have at least slight nose bleeds. If you're sharing a needle, you are always going to be in contact with the other person's blood. There should be more knowledge sharing on it though.
trouble is the hiv virus doesnt stay alive for long in the open air. so its less likely than u imagine
